In HDToolbox after entering a number, you have to hit Enter in that field for it to accept the new value.
It doesn't warn about unaccepted changes either.
It's a horrible UI design. |
I should have guessed. Anyway I used EB's HDInstall and its way better. And it leaves your drives exactly as they were even though it says it won't. Anyway I think I'm OK. I'll keep checking though.

Cool.
Be careful switching between HDInstall and HDToolbox.
HDInstall's RDB's aren't 100% compatible with HDToolbox so creating an RDB with one and changing with the other can corrupt the RDB.

| Is it HDInstTool you guys are talking about? If so, better not use it, it's a can of worms by itself. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Well, that < enter > hitting must be learned, I did learn it hard way before all this net hype. And taking the HDInstTool route has been warned - compatibility issues may arise. BTW, wasn't it in P96 the similar situation - forget enter and values didn't stick? Last edited by zipper on 31-Aug-2018 at 09:39 PM.

| Normal people (windows users) are taught to press tab.
I believe this is a string gadget issue, and suspect OS3.9 HDToolBox behaves differently to OS3.1 HDToolBox, since the former is Reaction based. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

I think you're right, HDInstTool.
I just always use HDToolbox from 3.9 if at all possible even if I have to partition on another system.
I've heard too many horror stories about 3rd party ones to bother with them.

That's not directly the fault of HDToolbox itself. That's because it would be using an Intuition string gadget. And they needed the return key to be pressed to accept the new value. Yes annoying I know. I've seen this on other systems. |
