Tower 57 joypad?

I wonder if anyone knows how you can use a joypad with Tower 57. I bought the game when it was new but I haven't really tried to play it until now. The problem is that I can't control my character with my joypad. The joypad works well in AmigaInput and I can set the buttons in the options menu but when I try to play I can only control my character with my keyboard. Nothing happens when I press a button on my joypad.

I can't find any setting where I can set the joypad as primary input other than the options menu where you can highlight the joypad settings or the keyboard settings. Having the joypad settings highlighted when exiting the option menu doesn't seem to have any effect at all. What am I doing wrong?

@Niolator

I can play Tower57 with following joypads

Both analog sticks work

8Bit SN30 Pro
PS4 Dualshock
Logitech F710

Which joypad do you have ?

Make sure that Tower57 has updated to latest version.

@SinanG

I am using a cheap controller that I found in a second hand store. It is a Rockfire USB Shuttle Vibra. Maybe it is too cheap? I will see if I can borrow another controller from a friend to see if it works better.

@Niolator

Following is the message from Tower57 Amiga version developer.

You must use the joypad to actually load / create a new game in the main menu, because the game will use the control method you use there in-game (so if you use keyboard/mouse in that menu.

@SinanG

Thanks. Using the joypad when starting the game fixes the problem. Now I can use my cheap controller.
