Sorry

I also can not understand this delay so long to load the kernel image, maybe it could be a problem in the management of SATA? Or some parameter of UBoot?
Then I'm using both the integrated PATA and the Sil3112.
On the PATA I have 2 HD, 1 CD burner and 1 DVD burner.
On SATA 1 HD 320Gb with OS4.1 and Linux installed.
My A1g3XE has been fixed with DMA and USB correction.

I could imagine that there is a conflict between the PATA and the SATA controller. It would be worth a try to just disable DMA for the CD/DVD drives (with libata.dma=1).

BTW: How much memory to you have in your A1XE? If you use two registered SDRAM DIMMs than it would be a good idea to limit the available memory to one DIMM only.

@Geri

I installed a single 1Gb sdram module on my A1.
So from what I understand libata.dma = 1 disables the dma for PATA devices? I thought that deactivated the dma with the value at 0.

Okay, then it should not be a problem. But then I wonder what could cause this problems. Do you use any USB devices with the onboard USB controller?

No and yes. It leaves DMA enabled only for harddisks, but disables it for CD/DVD drives. See here. Otherwise we could still try to disable DMA only for the PATA controller using multiple libata.force parameters.

@Geri

I have a PCI card with USB2.0 to which I connected a front panel with a USB, an SD / MMC memory card reader etc.
On the integrated controller of the A1 I have USB HUB with 4 ports

As for libatadma I understood, however I had to disable all devices in DMA during the installation otherwise the installation CD would not start and the system would crash.

I always had DMA activated with the sii3114 SATA controller and the onboard IDE controller. So I wonder what the difference could be with your A1XE.

Can you send me the content of /proc/cpuinfo and the output of the dmesg command?

La partizione di avvio è dove devono essere le immagini del kernel, dal momento che il kernel viene caricato all'avvio.

Non nella partizione di avvio, ma memorizzata nella partizione di root nel posto standard.

I thought I also put in DMA "All, HD, CD, Off" options so people could avoid meaningless numbers.

I tested a good quality hub with my A1 but it didn't work in UBoot. My internal ports are unfixed. But I found I could plug in/out SanDisk USB sticks and UBoot detected them directly in the port. So this A1 USB detection problem must be device dependant. Most devices didn't work I suppose.

Then you have a DMA problem. It usually indicates an unfixed board. I've seen this happen before with CD reads failing in the installer. A reboot with DMA off fixed it. However, it should have been fine with DMA on SATA, as it is with DMA on my 0680 IDE. My A1 is unfixed. But if your boot volume was on PATA connected to onboard IDE, on an unfixed board, only then should you need to disable DMA.

Did you get your A1 "fixed" or buy it that way with DMA?

And does it work fine with DMA enabled on OS4? You can run UBoot Prefs from OS4 and check the DMA settings from the HDD section. Or check from UBoot/OS4 Shell the UBoot variables for those whol like it technical.

My A1 is fixed both DMA and USB side. Using OS4 I have all the devices that work with DMA and do not give problems.
Could it be like I've patched up Linux partitions? Both the boot and the root have these values
Blocksize 512
Buffer 1000
Maxtransfer 7FFFFFFF
Mask FFFFFFFE

The same values that are set for OS4 partitions

@Hypex

I realized that in uboot I still set the old parameters to boot Linux that is:

root = / dev / hda3 video = radeon: 1024x768-8 @ 70 l2cr = 0x80000000 hdc = ide-scsi

They should not have any more effect using the SLB but you never know that they create problems.
Can I delete this line from UBoot? deleting the row from UBoot in OS4 or from the bios prompt with setevent Linux bringing it to 0?

That shouldn't affect it as those values are for AmigaOS. The DOS Type may matter but if it mounts the partition fine then those values are fine.

You can reset or delete that if you want. The SLB will actually set it for booting Linux. It will set the bootargs variable to match your boot settings before it tells UBoot to boot it. It only affects memory.

During the boot I noticed two lines at the beginning that then do not appear if I run dmesg.

init: 1: conf / conf.d / amigaos4-slb grep not found

the other line I could not write it
my cpu info is

During the boot I noticed two lines at the beginning that then do not appear if I run dmesg.

I think I may have solved your DMA problem. Check these lines out:

Your IDE cables are too old. You need modern 80-wire cables for proper DMA. How are your drives configured? HD as master, CD as slave? Your setup is crippled. Also older cables tend to have devices in different connections. You could try to take the speed down a notch but it already detects the cable type so should be doing this itself. Best to replace your cables. Especially with a HD hanging off.

You could try adding this to enable SATA DMA but I can't test if it works. Keep the other option to disable all other DMA:
libata.force=sata.udma
