@clusteruk

Why no CD/DVD panel plates as standard?

@BigD

Because most PC's do not use them and Amiga's cannot use the slot loading sata ones yet, or at least not easily.

However, any one can fit a standard 5.25" CD/DVD drive where no panel is needed.

On top of this, trying to keep the price down and that slot drive panel is another £3500 tooling cost, hence the stretch goal.

Finally if we meet the stretch goal I will re visit the basics and update as cost allows because in an ideal world all would be included but this is very carefully costed.

@clusteruk

Absolutely we need fresh blood.
Discussing it with Raspberry Pi users I think has good chance of generating interest due to the diverse usage and tinkerers involved with the Pi.
It's a community that loves to try different things and are comfortable having to do more of the leg work, than would be usual with the other mainstream systems.

i was reticent to point him to a thread here because of the divisions but we are what we are, warts an all.
And I do think that thread would be interesting to some Pi owners outside the usual suspects.

Cheers

@Thread

It's a shame the total isn't at around £70,000 at this point as this would be an exciting phase for the campaign rather than an extreme form of squeaky bum time as hopes and dreams hang in the balance seemingly unfulfilled!! Come on retro computer world;

@clusteruk

Why is there no option to specify Tabor A1222, Vampire V4 or Raspberry Pi versions of the case. I have no idea which back panel to select for those machines if that's why I was buying it! If you are supporting them then the options to select on on the case should be clearer. From reading your blurb the only options supported are a PC case or a classic Amiga case.

@BigD

The Tabor is just the standard PC back planes and the Vampire v4 does not exist in final form so I have no idea

The Pi is easy.

Overall, I have been busy though

Went out for anniversary dinner and came back and it had gone up to by £2k.

Big jump today which is very cool.

Standard PC backplates?

Yes, encouraging on the 2k jump. Hope you enjoyed the anniversary dinner.

@BigD

PC cases have a standard aperture of 44.70mm by 159mm for the rear I/O of the motherboard with the motherboard manufacturer supplying the the I/O plate. A-EON will supply a custom back plate as they have done with the X1000 and X5000.

@BigD

What I meant on the "Pi is easy", just a cheap mount frame and back plate options.

Had a great anniversary dinner thanks and returned to a £4,500 bump on the day

If I was single and without kids, I would "invest" my savings in ten or more cases.
It's so good looking!

I imagine that in hobby arena, the risk of not being able to sell them forward is pretty small.

@KimmoK

I must stress, as somebody who has had money troubles many years ago, it would upset me greatly to hear that people spent more than they could afford for a silly computer case no matter how nice it is.

Just order what you can afford and let the chips fall as they will.

@clusteruk

If the chips fall (Denise/Lisa and Paula included) I would hope that your fancy case would cushion them along with the rest of the motherboard

@clusteruk

Philippe Lang's origanl kickstarter for the A1200 case fell short by a long way and the second totally smashed the goal. If yours doesn't get funded please consider a second time round.
