Hi all,

I'm having some trouble with my new X5000 running 4.1FEu1, all volumes on SFS02 as that's what it came configured with. Long story short things keep crashing, Odyssey locks up frequently and I'm having various other troubles. However, one thing has been bugging me and I'm not sure if it points to a wider problem in my install.

I've tried downloading a few things like the Qt libraries from os4depot and the demo apps keep producing errors about not finding shared libraries which should be present in Sobjs: (and then hard locking the machine when they fail).

I looked at the assign commands, and there seems to be a problem with adding additional directories to an assign (e.g. adding the Qt libraries). Here's a simple example - I have two test directories with two files in them each, that I'd like to add to the same assign :

Quote:

[Work:] dir test#? all
Work:test2 (dir)
file3 file4
Work:test1 (dir)
file1 file2

So now I create the assign and point it to test1 directory and see if it worked :

Quote:

[Work:] assign test: Work:test1

[Work:] dir test:
file1 file2

OK, so now let's add the second directory and try a DIR operation again:

Quote:

[Work:] assign test: Work:test2 ADD

[Work:] dir test:
file1 file2

It doesn't "find" the extra directory, I was expecting it to show file3 and file4 as well. Is this expected behaviour, am I doing something wrong with my test ? I seem to recall this should work from my OS3.x days. I'm starting to think there is something seriously hosed on this machine given the lockups and other issues I keep running into.

@mdr
it's normal, the dir command show you only the first directory

@pvanni OK, thanks. I'll have to dig around some more to find out what's going on with the Qt programs and others like it - I have the same problem not finding libraries with FUSE spectrum emulator I downloaded from os4depot, even though I have copied things to the required location. Seem to have worked around Odyssey hangs for now by disabling Javascript. Still a lot of random system lockups though...

@mdr

Personally I would use partitions set up with the NGFS file system for the majority of OS4 software, Odyssey and SmTube especially
