Hello Amigans!

I an proud owner of an Amiga One X-5000 and I have problems with Quake 2.

Don't know really too much of what happens but I have tried to install the game 2 or 3 times but after the installation the game doesn't run.

Any similar problems on OS 4.1 FE?

I want to play 3D games on my Amiga One X-5000.

Any ideas are welcome

@newlight

What graphics card ?
You need :
Radeon 9250 and warp3d. Minimum
Better a Radeon HD 7xxx , warp3dsi, Radeon HD Drive.

Or fast Radeon RX series card and enhancer software pack with Radeon HD 2 drivers.

If you bought the Hyperion version and registered it on their website you should be able to download an updated version for 4.1. There is also this version which is hardware rendering only.

Not yet (they are finished but Amigakit thinks it's better to postpone their release for AmiWest so Amigans have to wait to be able to use their Polaris cards).

It's the same for Radeon HD drivers v3.

The graphics card is one from 2017 called ATI Radeon 7700 of 1 GB of RAM.

Hi
I have one idea.
Start with the basics, does warp3d run? Check with the demos supplied with warp3d, cow3d etc.. they just run without depending on other components.

If they run, check the documentation for the games that doesn't run for you and their dependencies, ports by hunoppc usually has their dependencies in clear text iirc and others might be worse about telling about what is missing.
Please give us something more to go at than "the game doesn't run" :)

Yeah I must be more expresive I know. But because I haven't installed since ages I don't remember the pòssible failures.

Warp3D run because Smokin' Guns run nut I cannot play.

But I don't know more I have yo do it installation again to see possible errors.

Isn't cd2 just the ordinaly pc version and cd1 a very old amiga executable?
If so just get the data files from the pc version and download a new executable.

Yes it is CD2 the PC version and CD1 probably the Amiga executable or installer.

I have an executable from OS4Dpot.

Maybe I will try later

I too have a problem running the Hyperion version of Quake 2 with my set up on AmigaOS 4 with a similar graphics card. Not quite sure what has caused it either but it was reported last year on the Hyperion support forum and no one has updated. I suspect an update to a library is the cause but the grim reaper error message should tell you what is causing it not to run.

If any case forget this version and go and download the HD version instead from HunoPPC’s website which looks absolutely stunning in HD. Like you I have the two CD version which Amigakit were selling so download the HunoPPC version and transfer the relevant pak files from the 2nd disk with the PC game files.
