| I am not a newcomer in regards of DosBOX configuration as I did in the past some on my Amiga One.
The question is I want to install the most newer Windows version and then install some games.
Can anybody help me on this task?
How to run DOS games?
Any help will be highly appreciated _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

I fear this is not possible as emulated CPU cores in the AmigaOS4 version aren´t compatible enough for most Windows games.
I would make basic Win95 install on PC (eg. under QEMU with only plain VGA and no other drivers) and then use this filedisk on Amiga under DosBox.

DosBox has its own DOS environment, you may run games from it or write small script for each game to run it from WB. |

The original config file from DOSBox is fine for most of the DOS based games.
I'd forget about Windows, it's too slow and just not worth the hassle. I had it installed once (Win3.11 iirc) and the only stuff that was mildly playable were the "games" that came with Windows. |

yes it is the best way and also there is another possibility. for each game you can include dosbox files to configure some specific games with a specific configuration. The Amiga DOSBox version lack a good frontend to handle various gamesLast edited by Seiya on 11-Oct-2018 at 06:21 PM.

I was able to run up to Windows98 in the Amiga version of DosBox. However, it was too unstable to be really useable.

No Windows version is really suitable for AmigaOS4 DosBox. Period. You may have better luck with Win3.x, but there are not many pure Win3.x games anyway.
If you insist, I recommend to make install under other virtual environment (eg. QEMU on PC) and then transfer your filedisk to Amiga. Installation under DosBox will be slow and only for experienced users. |

"IMGMOUNT d Win95.iso -t cdrom" in the DosBox environment (CDROM image file called "Win95.iso" will be mounted as drive d in DosBox).
Note I´m not sure, if AmigaOS4 DosBox supports CDROM. If not, you may simply copy content of the CD to HDD and install from there, Win95 install doesn´t care from where you install it.
I highly recommend to read DosBox documentation. Windows installation under DosBox is not trivial task. |

Maybe only install from file disks may be possible (eg. formatting file disk as c, copying basic MSDOS, copying Win95 install files and then boot from this disk bypassing DosBox environment). Note DosBox doesn´t like filedisks bigger than 500 MB. |

| @newlight Pavlor has already said all you need to know about Amiga version of Dosbox. AmigaOne has not good power to run Windows games throut dosbox, but you can i think play very well from dos shell or via batch.
i have installed windows 98 on Dosbox with a long procedure so now i have my copy of backup. i can send you my copy of windows that you can test with your Amiga. It is big, 1,5 GB of data because i use 2 hardware file: one for Windows and 1 for games. So you have to copy iso CD on "D" partition and use a tool like daemontools (daemon tools is installed in my windows 98, but it is unstable". the other tool that i installed is very good and very stable for evey games).
i have of course support for glide and directx so you can play (on windows version) with Glide and DirectX very good. you can play with Unreal and other 3D accelerate games.
you can also try to change its size using external "imgmount" to avoid to use "D" partition. i don't know if my installation works with external imgmount. but you can try.

That is not quite correct. If there was dynamic CPU core for PPC host, the X5000 could reach Pentium class performance - which is more than enough for early Win95 games - with much higher Windows compatibility than today.
Right now, only AmigaOS4 compatible solution for late 1990s games is PSX emulation. |

| @newlight now i don't rember very well the procedure, but you have to use a floppy boot disk. if you search in internet you can find an installation guide, but i don't know if it work with amiga dosbox version.

With normal CPU core, the X5000 could reach at least 486DX performance, dynamic CPU core is 4x faster (on "x86" host). So, regular "x86" host has not only much bigger raw performance, but also use muuuch faster CPU emulation (with higher Windows95 compatibility than the normal CPU core). |
