Postscript Printer for OS 4.1 use, with www-browser support

I am looking for a postscript printer (laser) to be used with X5000 and OS 4.1. As there are no management software for AmigaOS made by any manufacturer, it should be possible to access all the settings of the printer using a www-browser!

What models are there currently sold with this feature? (I know some older HP Laserjets had this, but have not seen this mentioned in the feature lists of latest models).

Regards,

Gregor

@Gregor

I have an old Xerox Phaser 6280 that's still chugging along and does what you want. It's connected to my router via ethernet. I don't know about current generation Xerox's however.

I just looked at Newegg. The Xerox Phaser 6510/6515MFM have Postscript 3 and an embedded control console. Good pricing, too.

I'm using a "HP laser Jet pro 200 color M251n" web interface works fine in OWB.

I print via ftp mostly,

Thanks for the tip! I will have a look on it... Is your 6280 a bw or a color one? How well does it do grayscales or color shades?

Thanks for the tip! I noticed Euronics is currently selling a very similar model: HP COLOR LASERJET PRO M254NW.

How good is the printing quality, especially color pictures? Can you get close to the shading of good inkjets?

The 6280 is color. Shading is not as nice as an old Canon BJC-7000 I once had, but that was using TurboPrint, too, so probably not fair to compare. I can't get TurboPrint working anymore.

I'm using after market toner for my printer, ,which leaves the gray/black kind of blotchy if it's very dark, but OK if it's a light picture.

@Gregor

I have a Xerox Workcentre 3225 which works brilliantly with my X5000 on AmigaOS MorphOS and Linux using postscript drivers. Connects using netprinter.device under Amiga/MorphOS and connects via the network on Linux.

It is a black and white only printer btw but as have no real need for colour print outs it suits me fine.

It supports PCL3 emulation so can also use some of the HP drivers that are out there on AmigaOS/MorphOS with varying levels of success
