| Hi all. Long time, no see. Back in the day I was D-Dan, but I have no idea what my login was, or even if it still exists.
When I eventually dismantled my Miggy (which was, incidentally, kick ass at the time) I saved images of my HDs - which do load just fine after some tweaking on fs-uae. I use Linux exclusively, and fs-uae is about all I have. Well, not strictly true - I could use e-uae from AF, but it's a long time out of date.
I have the ROMS from AF (latest - I was using 2009, but bought the latest at weekend).
After some fiddling (despite previously being an '060 system, I finally got it working after dropping to '040), and I've since learned ModePro slows it down a hell of a lot, and doesn't seem to be needed.
However, I do need CDRom to be working. Trying to mount an ISO, and nada. I have IDEFix installed, and FindDevice does locate the drive on the uaescsi.device - which surprises me since it isn't technically available in fs-uae. No other devices find it.
I've replicated the setup in /devs/dosdrivers, but still no sign of the drive on WB.
CacheCDFS is installed, but still nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
Hell, I'm almost embarrased to ask. In 2000 I used to answer these questions, but my brain is ageing, and I've probably forgotten more than I'll ever know again. Last edited by Roken on 26-Nov-2018 at 09:33 PM.

Hi I don't think FSUAE support real CD drive as such. Have you tried using WINUAE ? Last edited by g01df1sh on 27-Nov-2018 at 01:49 PM.

It's not a real cdrom - it's an ISO. And WinUAE is not an option on Linux (the Win bit is a giveaway :) ) |

Are you usng the FS_UAE launcher? There should be a tab in there where you can choose an ISO file. That will be mounted in the emulation.
So you just tell the emulator the CD image to use. And don't have to bother about it on the Amiga side. It's all automatic. |

This is the problem. I have the ISO correctly selected, but it isn't recognised on the Amiga side.
Now, this may be an issue because I have idefix installed on the Amiga side, but finddevice does actually see it, so I figure I need a correct DOSDriver.
I'll test with a disabled idefix.
EDIT: Nope, no difference. I know it works, since using an AF system finds it. It's clearly an Amiga side config issue. Last edited by Roken on 28-Nov-2018 at 08:10 PM.

I've only encountered these types of bugs I can recall when I had a HDD image with the same device name as a folder drive. So it is showing up as an Exec device. But what is stopping the CD0 device or whatever it is assigned from showing up?
I just did a test. Booted my A1200 setup and had selected OS3.9 as a CD image. My Workbench came up and OS3.9 was mounted on the virtual Workbench. Got a conflict somewhere. |

Doing my best to remove conflicts. Disabled IDEFix, and removed any DOSDrivers that tried to mount a CD. Still diddly squat.
I may check an AF system and see how that compares. |

| @Roken I used AmiKit 8,the last free version,on Windows and have a dual boot system with Windows 7 Pro and Netrunner and am able to run AmiKit from the Netrunner system with wine. There is a free version of AmiKit 8 and has an installer for Linux BUT make sure to to remove wine from your linux system Before you install AmiKit, as the install script installs a newer version of wine and will hose aka ruin your installed wine and abort the install of AmiKit. I had the same problem as you when I tried to AmiKit using wine, did not see the iso or cdrom. Have tried to install/use FS-UAE on Linux with little luck I always use my AmigaXL cd for all my AmiKit install.I think AmiKit is the best Amiga emulator out there

Removing wine is not an option. It's the only way I can play TrackMania. |
