| Hi anybody use one of these.
Am i right in thinking you can only use one port at a time. So I would not be able to have CF on 2.5" port and CDROM on 3.5" port

It looks like it has a jumper to choose between the 40 and the 44 pin ports, although that’s probably just about where power comes from. TBH though, I wouldn’t want to try using both ports. If you want to put two devices on your IDE chain, I’d say it’s better to go from 44 to 40 pin at the motherboard, and ideally do things with a buffered interface to protect the motherboard.
Having said that, I soldered up a 44-40 cable myself ages back, and I didn’t have buffering on it. It’s one of those "you’re fine until suddenly you’re not" deals.

I have a amigakit buffered ide board but I hate the design of the board. I would like it to be a little square board with mounting holes for mounting inside a tower case. With a mediator installed it's such a arse to get to the ide sockets. Last edited by g01df1sh on 10-Jan-2019 at 11:38 PM.

I tried using this with a CF card and a harddisk (to be able to get the stuff onto the CF-card), but it wouldn't work. The CF card got corrupted. It seemed like it didn't understand that it should not accept the data that was sent to the harddisk. It didn't understand that it was not alone on the cable.
I used a 44-40-cable with two connectors which worked fine for two harddisks or a harddisk+CDROM. Didn't use the alternative connector on the CF adapter. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |
