Any issues we have faced here have been handled fully in compliance with GDPR rules.

Hmm, not sure I'd totally agree with that statement. The current owners of the amigaworld.net website as listed in whois are currently NOT known to the ICO company search. As the effective Data Processor of personal information (such as my name, email address, password, home town etc) there is a requirement to notify the ICO of the breach in personal information, the scale and potential impact of the breach as well as notification to the affected persons. This is difficult to do if you're not registered as a Data Processor in the first place and would raise significant questions as to the practices of the company(s) in question, as well as monitoring of changes to implementations and safeguards to prevent it occurring in the future (which is where the significant fines come in where the causes are not actually addressed).

As an occasional user of this site, I was NOT notified of the breach and only became aware of it in the course of reading a comment in a thread several weeks later since the news story on the home page was off the page. I suspect I wasn't alone on this. IMO, to say it was "fully handled in compliance" is somewhat of a shaky statement.

The rules, regulations and obligations under GDPR are more than just resetting passwords. What makes me qualified in the matter? Over two years as data officer and GDPR preparation, implementation and enforcement in conjunction with dozens of commercial entities.

Does Amgaworld still work on a 68K browser like IBrowse?

@Hypex

I'm guessing that's why no one wants to update the XOOPS content management system that the site runs on so that it still works on 68k 'miggies?

@BigD & Hypex

Yes, I remember that it was told already years ago that they don't want to update the forum software, because it was so heavily patched to work with classic non-CSS browsers, and it'd be practically impossible to retain the compatibility if updating.

PS. posting this with IBrowse, so it works and looks fine still :)

@jPV

So the price of retaining the use of retro computers on this forum seems to be that our details are hacked, sold and distributed as freely as if we were using Facebook The joys of modern life

@Drule

And as per my previous statement, the issue was handled as per GDPR legislation - the ICO were notified of the potential issue by the site owners prior to any action taken last year in November as per the announcement on the site.
