| I currently own a SAM460 fitted with a Radeon HD 4650 graphics card. I like to play 3D games but my graphics card is not supported by the latest drivers so was considering getting an AMIGAONE X5000 which is fitted with a graphics card that is supported with the latest drivers. I have two questions to ask.
1: How much faster is an AMIGAONE X5000 compared to my SAM460?
2: How much could I get if I sold my SAM460 and would anyone here be interested in buying it?
It's my 60th birthday on 30th April and am thinking of treating myself to an AMIGAONE X5000. _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

I have never owned a SAM460 but do own a SAM440ep and the speed between that and my X5K is so far worlds apart.
Even the X5K seems speedier (just a small bit but to me it did) over my older X1K I sold.
If we had a more modern and up-to-date web browser I would even say it could become my daily machine at home, as I work from home and my work requires good web connectivity for me to get my work done.
The X5K is pretty darn slick. Limited it some ways compared to other platforms, software wise, but I think you would enjoy the speed bump from an old SAM.

Note... I would look at either the Radeon HD 7750 or R9270 if you have those options for video cards. Both work with older Warp3D using the SI driver that Hans did and also the new Nova3D. I would not get the newer Polaris cards yet as today they don't work with the older Warp3D. Just my 3 cents. Last edited by amigasociety on 23-Jan-2019 at 07:51 PM.

Well, you don´t need new A1, buying compatible card should be sufficient. However, if you have money to spare, go for it.
X5000 is twice as fast as the A1-500 1155 MHz (single-core CPU performance).
There is always market for NG machines, it depends on price. Don´t expect much more than 500 EUR for your SAM. |

I upgraded from my Samflex@800 to my X1000 and the difference in speed and more modern graphic cards etc is like night and day so i assume you going from a Sam460 to an X5000 will be much the same so do it and enjoy _________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! You could buy an AmigaOne X5000 or stick (lol) with the Sam460 and buy a supported Radeon HD card such as the Radeon R270 fo example. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

According to their product page it will be supplied with an R7 Oland so it's either a 240 or a 250 unless he requested a different card. |

Congratulations on your new purchase. You will enjoy it whichever OS you end up running on it
If you are thinking of selling your Sam460 like I did, if its a helpful guide, my old machine ended up being sold for £250.00 so given that the Tabor has yet to appear on the market I think you should easily get that if not more. Just make you it gets advertised when Ebay have one of their free listings weeks

Don't know about the Sam460 but compared to my 440ep-Flex, the X5000 has really made a difference. My C projects are compiled about four times faster, which saves a lot of development time. Web browsing using Netsurf is also a much better experience now. People say the OS (currently in pre-release state) is still a bit rough but for what I do, the system is very stable and feels snappy.

Like the case, are there any drive bays hiding behind the front panel?
Perhaps need a bigger boing though. |

Where did you get the chrome Checkmark and Amiga badge? I saw them on Amazon but they are not available. _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Thank You, i'm really happy with my X5000!
Now it would be nice to have AmigaOS 4.2 with OS3.1.4 included and a Port of the upcoming "It Came From The Desert" for AmigaOS 4.x
