Hi,
My A4000 refuses to boot past the self check (Light Grey Screen - no Floppy or HDD access). I bought a set of DaigRoms to help troubleshoot the system. I have to skip the RAM test since it hangs just before the 24-Bit Memory Area (Auto-Config). Once past that, I can run many tests including fast and chip ram, they pass without issue. My problem shows up when running the IRQ and CIA tests. All of the 7 IRQ tests fail and CIA-A test also fails (timer too fast). I experience other lockups and oddities during some tests most likely related to this. I have been to the Amiga DiagRom website but there is no documentation on how to interpret the results. Before start ripping out surface mounted CIA chips I want have a bit more information first. Just in case something else is causing my problems
The Floppy tests fail as well, DF0: is always "Not Ready" and stepping the heads, turning the motor on and off have no affect. The CIA-A chip is U350 on the A4000. Most floppy operations are handled by U300 (CIA-B) but since they do work in tandem CIA-A could be causing issues.
Does anyone know if there is a user guide of sorts for the DiagRom or have an idea if the CIA-A chip should be replaced?
Thanks in advance.
