I have a Radeon R9 280X in my AmigaOne X5000. I hardly do anything demanding with my X5000. Mostly I use programs like web browsers, Sketchblock and Office programs. Despite that, my graphics card gets really hot. When I touch the copper I almost get burned. What can the GPU be doing to make it so hot? I can´t beleive that Workbench is that demanding, composite on or not. Shouldn´t the GPU be using really low amount of resources compared to, say, gaming on a PC?

@Niolator

I guess what you're out after is dynamic power management. (i.e., the GPU is clocked up and down based on GPU load).
And you don't have that when using R9 280X.

You'll get that when updating to radeon rx.

@smf

Really? I guess I will have to look for a new graphics card then. A cheap one will do. We don't exactly have many killer 3D applications on AmigaOS 4...

@Niolator

Dynamic power management is also due to be implemented for Radeon Southern Island Cards in the future.

@Spectre660

Good to hear. I think I'll keep an eye out for a RX card anyway. If I am lucky I'll make a find on some auction site.

@Spectre660

Awesome, my 78xx OC is a little bit loud. Do You know any closer Details? With which Version-Number will Dynamic C. come?

Best Regards
