Actually, I'm not in that AmigaOS Team Lead role any more so.... nope.

Two important things:
1. I don't talk about SMP. I'm just talking about making use of the other cores.
2. Plans can always change.

Exactly. I have my doubts something like true SMP could be achieved without breaking absolutely everything and I've always said that. That is why I like to call it "multicore" instead.

One thing is certain, we need to make use of those extra cores. They are sitting idle and that is not acceptable.

Oh yeah.

Multicore support is still a priority.

double-triple !

If you will repeat it another 10 times like a parrot, it will not change the fact, that how you say its half of lie. Because we all know, that there is no one currently works on multicore support.

And you again trying to sound like there is so many work going on, just, all on hold, because everyone keep busy on multicore support. That is lie ! Why you can't understand it that the way of how you say it, just .. i do not know .. just strange ? Sounds like lie ?

I do not know what the problem with your wording, or with simple understanding of how humans talks with each others (i remember how you just close any threads on forums which is not sounds as you like), so i just out , but remember :

MULTICORE IS STILL IS PRIORITY ! (and there is need to put smile, just everyone will think that everything so close, just like tomorrow out).

@amigakit

You brag a lot a lot about enhancement package, but is not well tested. XDOCK is simply buggy, the context menu just broke after installing you so called upgraders. I spent days looking for bugs in my software, finally disabled XDOCK and went back to AmiDock, now my OS seams a lot more stable again.

that is true, had to make work around for the sb600sata.device, mplayer on AmigaONE-XE played DVD with any issues. But to get it working on X1000, i had to prebuffer blocks in mplayer, because the device did know how to do it.

The ethernet device driver is also missing, I don't know who was responsible for that, but lets say if your going to brag about driver support, it be great if all hardware was fully supported.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Your bug report is not helpful. X-Dock has gone through countless revisions and is very stable at current public release v2.37. If you think your assessment is still valid for the current version, then please contact me personally and I will be glad to investigate. The driving force behind the Enhancer Software is improvement and advancement.

So when did I sign up as a beta tester for a-eon?

Tomorrow?

But seriously, if you think being a beta tester amounts simply to doing what Matthew asks of you, then you'd be in for a nasty surprise.

All he asks is that you make sure you see the problem also with the latest version of X-Dock, and then contact him. He doesn't ask you to try all intermediate versions, nor to provide a serial debug log or a full list of circumstances which may or may not cause the problem - not to mention filling in a detailed bug report in Mantis.

That would be (part of) a beta testers job.

So - do you want it fixed, or did you just feel like whining?

Best regards,

Niels

(beta tester on AmigaOS 4, but not on Enhancer - only translator (with beta access). And this was specifically because I know what it takes to beta test.)

I gather a lot of this talk is concern over lack of releases to the public as a whole, and not a question about whether having betas released to testers constitutes a public release. heh.

For me personally, this is my biggest pet peeve about software fixes. Sometimes, a bug is fixed but the fix is never released to the public. For me personally, as an average user, it does not fix my issue if the fixed software is only available to beta-testers or developers.

one of many of the changes to AOS4 from @ssolie was the introduction of a much faster update mechanism. from update 6 until the most recent management changes at hyperion, we saw tens of component updates every month instead of waiting years for them to be bundled up.

shame that users preferences regarding the distribution model were, um, disregarded by the new management.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Which version of X-Dock do yoiu have installed?

X-Dock 2 has een completely rewritten from scratch, I'm running both AmiDock and X-Dock here with no issues. I generally start X-Dock from my existing AmiDock on demand, with a Dock full of developement related shortcuts, take advanteg of the Open in FileManager option.

Currently using 2.41.

I'm aslo using Context Menu commoddity if that is what you mean when you say it "just broke".

X-Dock uses menuclass based context menus BTW.

If you're talking about AmiUpdate ... yes, I thought that was a great way to keep my software as current as possible.

I currently cannot use OS 4.1FE "update 2" or whatever it's called, due to bugs in the TCP stack, bugs that were fixed years ago on Roadshow 68k. With the utter lack of effort from Hyperion to move forward, it would be better if the individual OS components could be maintained and released by their respective authors.

Actually, from recent research, it turns out that the bigger the lie is and the more you repeat it the more people will believe it. It's some kind of predisposition we all have. Kind of like confirmation bias I think. The trick is to have a really BIG lie; repeating it isn't enough.

President Trump has demonstrated many recent examples of this technique (sadly). The technique is also being used by far left/right political groups more and more often these days.

Anyway, back on topic, my statement re multicore actually is not a lie because I have seen the actual source code changes and design documentation. But hey, it was a fun experiment to see how far I could push it.

Yes, when Hyperion say PPC is the Amiga evolution, it's an incredible big lie...

The truth is : PPC in our world for killing the 68k and a successful computer for getting Microsoft and Apple free of competitors... I think most of the users understand now your evil goal...

You are only pity killers, poor guy...

I'm a big big big energy (alpha man), with an excellent memory : I won't forget all the shit you did in our community you can be sure of that...
