I recently rediscovered my aging A4000 and for nostalgic reasons I have backed up all drives, in order to reconstruct the same setup under WinUAE.

The A4000 was equipped with a Cyberstorm MKII 060, and a CV643D card. Recreating my virtual drives and setting it up went surprisingly well, and it booted up on first attempt.
Only real change I had to make was to set up uaegx and P96, since the CV643D card is not available to emulate.

My old workbench then displays, more or less as I remember it. But the system was very slow.
It turned out it was the program launcher, TheBoss that caused this slowdown. Removing it from WBstartup made things smoth again.
But this makes me wonder why this slowdown happen on this emulated system, while it worked fine on the real thing.

Secondly, I am looking for a nice replacement for TheBoss's buttonbar launcher. Any suggestions?

@amyren

If you want something to run on workbench try toolmanager (http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/ToolManagerBin).

If you want ro replace workbench with something better I reccommend DOpus5 (http://aminet.net/package/util/dopus/Dopus5_91_os3).

Both will let you set up multiple text or graphic button banks any where on the screen. DOpis5 is far more powerful though and gives you far more flexabilty not just click here, run this, like toolmanager, both will let you start scripts for more complicated starts but Dopus5 will let you do most of it internally instead of having loads of script files all over the place.
