| A new opportunity for an open source ppc motherboard I'd like to ask you if it can be another opportunity for AmigaOS to survive and evolve remaining in ppc market.
In the video he says, download schematics and build your board!
Power9 is really a big beast, for me more advanced than x64 and arm cores. Last edited by Fl@sh on 24-Mar-2019 at 08:05 PM.

I wish the prices would come down. Other than that, bring it on. _________________ John 3:16 |

Better wait for an AOS4 port to RaspberryPI 4B+ |

What is the Endianess of the 4b+? Is it the same as PPC? Last edited by Trekiej on 24-Mar-2019 at 11:10 PM.

I asked a while back if their dual-socket board could run big-endian, answer was yes. Also runs little-endian.
Now that the less expensive Blackbird single-socket board can be preordered, it's kindof exciting. Same big-endian capable expectation from me, but I haven't asked for formal acknowledgement of that for this board._________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

The Pi4 does not yet exist. Maybe next year. Presumably it will be bi-endian._________________ "Unix is supposed to fix that." -- Jay Miner |

Some hw Amiga company like aeon should go in this new market now and produce and sell at human costs the new boards with Linux and AmigaOS installed.
R&S costs are null, so they have only define agreements with fabs and sell as much as possible...
Maybe we could have an ibm power9 standard atx mobo under 150$/200$ _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

That does not make things easier ...
About the open source mother board, the one that we see in the video is the BlackBird by Raptor. So the "new" opportunity is about an already announced board.

If really the project is open-source raptor can be one company, among others, to make these boards. Aeon could do the same or rebrand raptor ones. I hope there will be also others among Amiga like companies involved in this opportunity. _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

Great video. I like the enthusiasm of Linus. He's great.
This is really neat. The 44 cores machine was cool!
Maybe Trevor could recommend a POWER9 system like Raptor's Talos II for an AngelHQ client who could use it for Linux business applications, then make an arrangement that an AmigaOS developer could use it during downtime for porting AOS4 to POWER9.
I wonder how fast E-UAE or FS-UAE would run AOS4 PPC Classic on a POWER9 Linux system like the Raptor Talos II.

It's already on the roadmap - right after Hyperion finish implementing support for the Tabor. |

It would be great if A-Eon can send a X5000 to Linus for review. Linus has many followers... _________________ AmigaOS4 Beta-Tester ---------------------------------- Amiga X5000 8GB Radeon RX 560 Amiga A1222 2GB Radeon RX 550 Sam 460 2GB RadeonRX 550 |

Even Intel is selling processors for servers from some decades now, but I don't see were POWER9 is more advanced: do you have some comparison chart to take a look at? |
