| Hi, y'all. My AmigaOne 500 appears to have died. I'm wondering if the Silicone Image 3512 SATA interface card will work in my AmigaOne micro, since OS 4.1 final has a driver for it. I know I wouldn't be able to boot from it. I just need to get some files from the A1-500 hard drive.
I'm planning on trying a fresh battery, but I don't have a lot of hope for the A1-500. It's acted up before. I've had a lot of trouble with it, whereas the micro has always been very reliable. Last edited by thinkchip on 06-Apr-2019 at 02:32 PM.

Hi, I don't have an AmigaOne micro but an XE, and on this I use a Sil3112 card without any problems, the UBoot I have and version 1.1.1 and it should be the same one that is present on the micro or even on the latter could there is a more recent version since it was the last AmigaOne card produced by Eyetech. To my knowledge, the 3512 should also work. In fact it seems that the old A1 of Eyetech are rocks compared to the more recent systems, my XE is almost 16 years old and despite experiments and even mistakes it has never failed, probably MAI Logic had thought of them for industrial applications and electronics is very solid. |

| Just an update. I changed the battery. No change (the battery is pretty old anyway). I happened to have a spare memory module that I picked up at a thrift store for a dollar. Swapped it out and it appears to be working. At least I get the boot screen now. The 1-GB RAM that came with it appears to be dead. I need to swap it around again to be sure. That is an enormous relief. Dead RAM is way, WAY better than a dead motherboard. The RAM may have been flaky for a while and the cause of some of the stuff that has been happening. I may continue the experiment with the SII3512 card and the micro, although it doesn't seem to be necessary now. So a positive ending to the latest chapter. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

| Another update. The SAM 460 / AmigaOne 500 is working normally after swapping the RAM. Now for the micro experiment. I installed the card and attached a hard drive that had been prepped and formatted. When I turned on the computer, the drive showed up like it had always been there. The AmigaOne series is a mass of contradictions. Some things are very easy and others take hours or days of labor.
