I have been following downloads of my Help My Cat! game every now and then from Aminet. For these about four years after the initial spike it have stayed pretty much same, increasing with few downloads each time only.

I dont remember when exactly i checked last time, maybe end of last year or even beginning of this year, couple of months ago anyway, and now that i checked today, I suddenly noticed downloads had not far from doubled: http://aminet.net/search?query=help+my+cat

As googling "help my cat" and amiga results in no new pages mentioning this game, and as the downloads are equally spread between different Amiga systems, it makes me think these downloads are not real, but are caused by something else.

Is it possible that search bots could for example download these for some reason and hence increase the amount of downloads? For I have used help my cat game as a side mention in couple of Telos coin related articles in about half a years time, hence I am wondering is it possible that some webcrawlers noticing this have started downloading these aminet files, hence increasing the amount of downloads.

Or what other possibilities are there for a sudden spike of amount close to doubling?

@number6

Thanks, could be related to that. Maybe they fixed something and number jumped due to that. I was actually wondering when I checked the result list since my recalling was that every time before I had to click each readme file or something to see the number, but this time I saw them all at once. Perhaps they used to show zero before.

@Bugala

I see OS3 has 100 more downloads than OS4. It it is an even 500. One thing is for sure, I don't think there has been a cult Amiga PD adventure game since the likes of Hammy Town.
