@Jax

For those asking if there is a Hyperion interview in response, I have emailed them and I am more than happy to fly to Belgium and do this.

However, I also think that the MorphOS team deserve to get the same treatment so I would appreciate contact from the team.

It is up to Hyperion to reply to my email and Facebook message.

Right now, especially after hearing the things said during the interview, I think Michele C. Battilana acquiring Amiga is the best thing that could happen to the community.

He has always seemed humble to me, and with a clear vision.
No BS, no corporate dramas, just a man who clearly loves the Amiga and wants to both preserve the "old" stuff and keep going forward.

I wish my question was actually included but I guess a similar one was, so everything's fine.

Many thanks to @clusteruk !

I get what you mean about good or bad news.
But showing the human aspect is not necessarily a bad thing though.
It can be good to see the character of a person instead of just a name on a web page.

Cheers

It all depends on the outcome of the law suit, so we probably won't see much progress for the next year or more. If Hyperion wins, I don't think much will change. If Cloanto wins, I think there will at least be some hope.

@bison

Cloanto certainly is not the best example of progress, Amiga related applications under their claws did not change for years...

I don´t say Hyperion´s pace of development is stellar, but Cloanto doesn´t show much promise in this regard.

I think Hyperion is interested in anything that brings them money for free (OS3.1.4).

The problem is that the source repos are under Hyperion's control - Hyperion never got the sources from Amiga Inc (and hence acquired the elsewhere), and never returned the sources back to Amiga Inc. after OS4 was "done". Only way for Cloanto to get the sources, is to use the same old archive file as Hyperion started with decades ago, and go from there. Cloanto also currently have no access to development that happened since OS3.1. The only way forward, for *ANYONE* who want to see progress, is a legal battle against Hyperion. This is what currently is ongoing. And it is not just Cloanto, it seems that A-EON is also involved, as they are in a similar situation in regards to OS4.

Never heard this version of the story. I've always thought that Amiga Inc. contracted Hyperion (pronounced as "rip A-EON", by the way) to do OS4 and provided the OS3.1 sources.

Yeah, it's a bit unclear. My understanding is that Hyperion, via certain individual(s), got hold of the sources, and that Amiga Inc. approved this. I don't recall exactly where I read this, or by whom it was written. I am sure Olsen knows though :)

I am not sure if it is worth it to interview Hyperion in the same way. Too many "Let's wait and see" answers, which was to be expected but also too many wrong questions. I know it is not Steve's fault, but people who have written some questions probably have no clue at all whats really going on there.

It is fair to give Hyperion same opportunity, but questions should be much more carefully selected...
