I have used Povray but did not know that Polyray existed until I bought a book on Povray.
In the book there is a book on making movies on PC that uses Polyray.

What is the difference between the two?

POV-Ray

It was originally based on DKBTrace, written by David Kirk Buck and Aaron A. Collins for the Amiga computers.

@OneTimer1

Thanks, I know about Povray. Polyray was a new one for me.
I bought a book on Povray a couple of weeks ago. There was a book advertised in the back that had Polyray with it.
I did down load Polyray but have not done anything with it yet.

I think Real 3D is a text based ray-tracers.
What are other text based ray-tracers?

@Trekiej

Not quite, Real 3d is quite a league on it's own, it isn't polygon based for example, but it wasn't never text based afaik

@pixie

I see.
It would be good to see Polygonal Renderers instead of just Raytraced Renderers.
