Sorry, but that's a clear testament to the people behind the effort and not the effort itself.

The lack of available technical resources is also pure bunk. Other more arcane technologies have evolved and flourished.

What you are correct about is 2004 being a pinnacle year in the decimation of the Amiga.

But I would guess... ok, maybe hope it's the more appropriate word (!!!) that with a solid foundation already in place (for example I believe it's safe to assume OS4 already having a HAL should help a lot) a potential ARM port with proper funding and the right people working on it should be doable in a far shorter timeframe than the 3.x --> 4 effort.

HAL or no HAL, just look how long it takes to port AmigaOS from one PPC system to the next and you got your answer.

Tabor was shown for public November 2015 and it's still waiting for Hyperion to finish their work. Now ask yourself how long it would take them to do a port for whole new architecture.

I think "soon" we will no need to have a porting on a arm.... in 2026 (the tabor release date) the arm will emulate ppc code in interpretative mode fast than the tabor one cpu.

Only used stuff, some of it fairly obscure. I have never succeeded in getting AROS to run on *any* hardware that I own. It runs fine hosted on Linux, but I would like to try it native, which at the present time is a very hit-and-miss proposition. AROS would be more popular if it had a cheap reference system that is readily available and *new*.

Small bump when moving from an in order 2 wide "LITTLE" core to an out of order 3 wide "big" core.

Or look at all the hardware MorphOS exists for and how much faster MorphOS shows up on new hardware. Why would OS4 be different? Maybe because it is not "done right" and maybe because there's hardly anyone left to do anything at all. Because yay Hyperion.

I have succeeded in getting AROS running on my A3000, so I switched to it.

Otherwise this is a major problem. I do not want to source second hand components from ebay that I do not even know how well it will work together.

You are under the illusion that Hyperion are doing any work? They are not, the company has noone with that kind of skill, the best they can hope for is people willing to do all work for free for them, under an NDA. Such people are long and far between, typically they chose to use their spare time more wisely.

Read my posts again. I'm most definetly not under any illusion that they could pull Raspberry Pi 4 port before it's availability ends 2026. They have burned so many bridges that even without NDA it would be hard to find right people to work on it.

performances look like near or better than the udroid xu 4 . it mean the pi 4 is faster or equal to the x5000/40 in computing performances. i m really courious when i will have it.
