Although referred to as a "design mark" and not a "trademark", it is clearly listed as one of the "Amiga Marks".

Perhaps 'design' because whilst the trademark status may well have expired, the copyright of the original logo design would still rest with the rights owner. ('m not commenting on how enforcable that copyright might be, only that it would still exist where the trade mark had expired).

@broadblues

I'm not stating anything other than the obvious.
People have used the design mark over the years. Fine.

But stating it is now being used under license does mean something.

Heh. Don't forget the actual list from the people charged with exploring the sale of the assets.
A somewhat longer list:

Well, I was more hinting at the text there that says...

"There are a few marks that are neither registered nor in active use. The checkmark used on this document's title page was never a registered mark as far as we can tell and hasn't been used commercially since AmigaOS 3.5's boot screen, i.e. since 1999."

I would argue that it's odd to pick 3.5 over 3.9, though, and both just used 3.1 boot screen, as far as I remember.

Heh, good find. It's just a typo - I can't see any reason to pick the former over the latter. I'll fix it if I ever update that document.

Well on the media page they still have a image with AmigaONE branding! http://www.a-eon.com/?page=media

So let all see if this get removed then we know something up! http://www.a-eon.com/images/first_contact3.jpg

Plus also I have a motherboard and manuals that read on it, its AMIGAONE! so unless some on break in to my house and quickly draw all over it, its way too late to adjust branding on the AmigaONE X1000.

@amigang: This is one picture vs. all other places on their official websites (A-EON, Amigakit, Wiki) where the brand has been removed. Do you think the AmigaOne-brand on all other places disappeared for no reason or just accidentally?

And regarding to your manuals: We all know, that A-EON sold its AOS4-systems with the AmigaOne-brand in the past (see number6s link). The question is, why they removed the brand from their official websites NOW.

And this is no trolling (I appreciate Trevors engagement regarding AOS4), but a legit question.

This is the same kind of mystery as when Olsen made a revision "rollback" mistake in the OS sources, so that the "Developed under license" ended up being "All rights reserved", and this simple mistake somehow ended up on the labels of all floppies and kickstarts chips of OS 3.1.4.... magic...

I found a new conspiracy. Go to the X1000 page from the above link. Here:
http://www.a-eon.com/?page=x1000

There's nothing there! The X1000 has disappered.

Could this be the Bermuda Aeonangle? Where AmigaOne models just disappear?

@Hypex

The Bermuda Aeonangle! I like it.

Most of these missing systems probably end up on Tabor Island

OMG

Tabor Island, it is on maps but it does not exist in reality. Now that explains a lot, thanks for spotting this, I was completely unaware of it.

I need to update my maps of the Amiga world.

Well, until all the endless court cases have been finished, no-one really knows who will be able to give out licenses, so perhaps A-Eon and others are just waiting, rather than sending money out to the wrong people

The curse of Tabor continues. An incompatible FPU pales in comparison to no OS.

I wonder if MorphOS could be an option going forward to fill the void?

Not for ”Tabor”. But the X5000 could of course be a possibility (since MorphOS already runs on it since half a decade), should Aeon choose to embrace it.

Wow! No wonder Hyperion don’t want to invest in AmigaOS 4 if their only hardware partner showed no interest in renewing their OEM license! Sheesh!
