@asymetrix

Wow, thanks for that idea. I never considered something like this.
I will discuss it with our group.

I fear that even the "small" hour commitment could be an issue.

You might be aquainted with the "I don't have any extra time."

sigh,

If Amiwest was promoted with an exclusive paid live HD feed it would make more income for the show.

Back in the day, computer clubs made their own shareware CDs.

Today computer clubs could provide paid access to :

Programming tech talk
source code CDs /demos
Live daily broadcasts.

Its a shame Amiga clubs don't use Patreon to fund a daily developer broadcast like :
Microsoft Developer channel on Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsMica-v34Irf9KVTh6xx-g/videos

MR Solie would be ideal, but you need a small team of locals who can dedicate an hour a day get Patreon paid to talk and teach what they love - Amiga.

Anyone have a home studio ?

Its a potential income generator.

10 subscribers @ $10 per month make $100 per month
100 makes $1000 a month.

@SACC-dude

One *could* for example create a comprehensive list of topics and discussions for the event.

One cold hire a wedding/video photographer for the event.

10+ hours of technical conferences ( maybe start introduce Amiga API )

These videos could easily be sold for $50 for intro.

Advanced developer conference 2019 set for $100.

The funds generated could go towards funding the group and future Amiga development.

Every Amiga event could help fund developers in this way.

@Thread,

I just found out that my BEST friend's wife is planning his 70th birthday surprise party on the same weekend of AmiWest 2019. I have already paid for the MorphOS Display table, and don't want to miss the show completely, but I CAN'T miss this birthday party (which is over 500 miles away from Sacramento).

If there is anyone attending the 2019 AmiWest Show who can assist me by manning the MorphOS display table, I will have my MorphOS systems at the hotel prior to the show in the hands of one of the SACC members, and will have them loaded up with the latest version of MorphOS3.12, and the SDK, as well as some cool software, but I just need some help manning the table, while I can't be at the show because I'll be flying back and forth to attend the birthday party.

If you can help, please contact me via my gmail account, not here in this forum thread, as I don't check this often enough. My email address is bbhs74 at the above mentioned gmail dot com. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
David
aka AmigaDave

@Thread

Here's another request for help - I'm arriving by plane from Oz in SF just after 12:00 pm on Wednesday the 23rd. There are no Amtraks until 4:00 pm, arriving in Sacramento at 7pm+.

Is anyone driving from SF that afternoon, that could take a passenger?

The Exec SG kernal is under development! Now the exclusive property of A-EON Technologies Ltd., the Exec SG kernal is being extended and tested by a team of well-qualified developers.

Led by Exec SG Team Lead Steven Solie, the new kernal adds support for many features AmigaOS doesn't have. Among these are mutli-core support, GART implementation, faster speed, 64-bit support, and extending the RAM limit beyond 2 GB to 4 GB and beyond.

Even with all these advantages, the Exec SG kernal retains 100% compatibility compared to the former kernal version. This is true because these are extensions to the existing kernal incorporating the original work of Carl Sassenrath and the AmigaOS team in 1985 as well as the work of others since then.

@TRIPOS

Borrowing code from Linux kernel intensifies.

@TRIPOS

This is probably why Hyperion bought Reaction. So that A-eon cannot assemble all of the needed parts for OS4 on their own.

Again words playing :)

I mean:

Quote:

Its like its _already_ have all those features and they all already being betatested. I never seen any new kernel with that. So i not sure where it added and who those qualified developers betatesting it. Sure there can be something, but it didn't looks like something ready.

Also multi-core support that again probably cheat-wording.

Also GART implementation didn't mean video GART implementation of course, its just that dma usage as do X1000. So there will be speed up for sure, but not big enough. Through, i again not sure if it _already_ done.

64-bit support : that one also sounds stange. That all should be done inside of whole set of programms , not just in kernel. Having added API which CAN use other apps, didn't mean they all use it.

And that extending of RAM also sounds a bit like "all easy peasy" , while it probably what, bank-switching again, and only some special code can be done to use it, so no luck for pure malloc(2gb) .

As usually instead of just making one single feature, betatest it and release, there is all whole set of possible and unpossible things put in , which probabaly will mean work will never finished :)

@kas1e

They sound like buzzwords to me too, especially "64-bit support". What does that even mean?

@BSzili

I do not know :) Probably it mean nothing, just someone repeat those words hearded from somewhere which have no connection to reality :)

@All

Is it me who do not understand why there needs all the time to repeat who that TEAM LEAD is with all those big words around all the time together with bananas and phanpharas ? I mean, what about firstly release the thing, and then somehow say who those persons working on ?

Only Team Lead make it possible ! Things changes, but Team Lead always Team Lead ! :)

@Rose

I don't mean to be disparaging, but it's the "Led by Exec SG Team Lead Steven Solie", that I find incredible ... well, and the rest of it, too.

Do hope I'm wrong - would love to see actual progress, but why would actual progress be kept secret given circumstances...!

@you-know-who

Whoever published that nonsense did A-EON a disservice. Because A-EON never claimed Exec SG already had the features mentioned in that post. It's somebody's wet-dream wishful thinking, and a long-term plan at best. So I don't understand why you're ridiculing the Exec SG effort when, at the same time, you seem to take for granted an anonymous blog post published on a cheesy website. C'mon - my secondary school students can read more critically than you!
