Ladies and gentlemen,

I'm very proud and honored to have the opportunity to unveil tonight details regarding Vampire V4 Standalone sales.

The Vampire V4 Standalone comes in standard with aluminium case, corresponding PSU and shipped with AROS kickstart.

For A34, a special bundle will be made available with free "give-aways" add-ons like compatible Mouse, compatible Keyboard, CF-Adapter a 32GB CF card and an USB Blaster. Later, resellers will have the opportunity to sell their own bundles.

Terms & conditions
* Payment will be accepted in cash or via PayPal.

* Offer is available until stock remains, even regarding accessories
* No support is offered on accessories/give-aways
* Complete warranty terms are available on our WiKi on EXTERNAL LINK
Information regarding current state of the standalone core

* USB: support for some input devices like USB mice and keyboards. Support
for more is in progress. Compatibility list available on WiKi ( EXTERNAL LINK )

@Overflow

That is very good news, a great achievement ! Hopefully the demand does not exceed the manufacturing. And reading the announcement, the V4 comes with an Aros Kickstart so the unit can be powered on and used immediatly.

This is almost double the price I was expecting...
That's more than most modern high end video cards...

It's the price point we were expecting for the Tabor so if the Tabor is further delayed people may just allocate their savings for this instead!

It does seem to be expensive but presumably they are moving away from mostly hand built custom V2 boards to minimum order quantity factory production. That would increase costs for small batch numbers wouldn't it?

How to compare this with a gfx-card!
This is a computer.
At least compare with Amiga 68k accelleratiors.

This is high end Amiga hardware. Runs a lot of games, software and that will only improve.

With AROS they have controll of both the hardware and software.

This must be the best and most important news for Amigaworld since 10 years+

Controll to the users and people. Get away from all the stupid legal battles and all the mess Amiga been in for 25+ years.

This is a classic, fun platform that Amiga always been.
The take over the world and compete with mothern hardware and operative systems is lost long time ago.

I am well aware of economies of scale. At this price it's a developer-only launch.

No it's for die hards with years of hurt and failing Classic hardware that want some fun. A-EON, Hyperion and Cloanto are bringing the pain and this is the (expensive) antidote.

If it was a developer release it would have a classic compatible MMU which it still doesn't.

As you said, this is a computer, why compare it with Amiga 68k accelerators? It's not an accelerator which simply plugs into your Amiga, it's a standalone hardware.

How come? Is there something inside there that have resemblance with Amiga hardware? It might be a better alternative to Minimig or MiST, but Vampire it's not new high end Amiga hardware.

Is that a real question? Is there something inside 'high end Amiga hardware' that have (sic) resemblance with Amiga hardware? Like Tabor maybe ... ?

You expected under $300 as configured? I think that's very unrealistic. This seems about as expected.

Whatever we think of the price, this is the first community-created Amiga
Put it in an A1200.net case or Checkmate 1500+ with a Kipper keyboard

You'll have a great Amiga and it will look like it too, Community projects created - No Amiga IP Licence Holders Needed

Great news and congratulations that it finally will arrive.
As I am pretty satisfied with my MorphOS computers I have no urgend need for a Vampire, but could imagine to get one a bit later as well.
Nice!

@Zylesea

another news I just read and am very excited about

Reshoot-R in a special Aros 68k version for vampire

http://www.apollo-core.com/knowledge.php?b=5¬e=23508

That is the spirit. I hope others will follow

A independent platform with a free OS that is controlled and developed together

No more companies and single persons hindering progress

Yes. ~$325 ... but yes.

I'm not sure why it should cost much more than the V2 and if ordered in sufficient quantity it could cost less.

Many people have been waiting for the V4 and not buying the V2 and many people will be selling the V2 to buy the V4 so I don't see why the price is so high considering the perceived demand.

For instance - they could have worked with resellers to judge the demand and ordered appropriately.

$600 is not an impulse buy. I'd love to spend $400 on a new AMD Radeon 5700XT variant but even $400 is not an impulse buy for me...

Agreed. What was that Amiga related project spreading around where the motherboard was in what looked like an Amiga 1200 power supply, and the keyboard was external? That looked amazing. Then they pulled it back for some kind of rights issue. I forgot the name.

I would have bought that in an instant if paired with a Vampire.

Oh yeah, this one:

Understood, but I did not expect less. The FPGA Replay, much inferior hardware, cost me $360 bare board with no accessories, case, etc. I think these guys need to make some money on this. All the development time spent is worth something.

I was hoping this wasn't pushing $1000, so $600 is right around where I thought it would be.

BTW - where are you in RI? Any local C= or Amiga meetups?

The price is quite right I feel.

The market is very limited. This is a niche, hobby hardware. For normal people to be interested in this would be so low that we are talking 100 - 150$
I just hope the sales will be good enough to keep the project going.
