Video Upscalers

Greetings all, new to this forum, long time Amiga owner. I have sadly been cursed by the 1084
monitor plague that has affected many Amiga owners over the years, and I recently
discovered video upscalers. I purchased one from Amazon and built myself a cable using my original monitor cable. I should interject that it is a VGA Upscaler, not HDMI.
Anyhow, I can now see my Workbench screen on a modern LCD Monitor, Yeah !!
But, when I try to run any programs that use Interlaced mode, the screen goes black, and comes back but I can only see the top inch of the screen, and there is a ghost image super-imposed over the rest of the screen.

Does anyone have any Tips ?
I haven"t seen any post anywhere about this problem.

Maybe consider approaching this from a different way?

Check out http://15khz.wikidot.com/ for a list of LCD monitors that can support 15Khz. I tend to use the NEC 1970NX/VX series without a problem, and I can usually get them pretty dang cheap on Ebay.

@icbrkr But what kind of cable do you use ?
I have an original 23 pin to 9 pin vga cable, and the one I canabalized from my 1084
monitor, but the newer vga cables have 15 pins.

@Jakeatolla -

Something like this: http://amigakit.amiga.store/product_info.php?products_id=183

Commodore made them as well, you can find them pretty easily.

@icbrkr

Thanks for the info. How does the lcd monitor do with the interlaced graphics, or the hi-res mode using that adapter ? The video upscaler can't handle those at all.

Hmm... I'm going with "I'm not sure" :) . I've used them for basic WB and games but never got into delacing. I think that page says if it chokes on interlacing or not. I'd say I'd give it a shot, but I'm pretty lazy and might not get back to you for some months :D
