Here at Amiwest, I was just speaking to Alex of RabbitHoleComputing.com. He has 5 A.L.I.C.E. laptops (based on the Acer Aspire E 15) in stock and for sale at $650 US each (not including shipping and applicable state tax). He also has several of his new "desktops" (based on refurbished Lenovo Thinkcentre M900's with easily-upgradable processors!) with A.L.I.C.E installed for $350 US each. For more information, send Alex an e-mail to

inquiries@inertialcomputing.com

@RobertB

Would you please post a short description of A.L.I.C.E?

Something explaining the differences to Amithlon, UAE or AROS hosted.

Hahaha.
Oh boy.
And the laughs just keep rolling in amiga-land.

$650 US?
Absolute joke.

What's next,... raspberry pi for $300 'cos someone engraved a boingball into the case?

Also, horrid choice for running something like that. Way too slow a machine. Waaaaaay overpriced.
What's wrong with these people.
Could do a much better job for way under half that.
Anyone so stupid as to pay this for this junk deserves it.

@fishy_fis

Do you put any value on their time setting it up? I personally would not like to attempt this install myself but other people might think that it's fun!

actually anybody can set up winuae or something like that on a laptop. but if the people aint able to do that themselves they may need to pay. im not sure if it really must be counted as equivalent of few hours of skilled technician salary. but its not for me to judge. the customers need to consider this.

@BigD

I did see the ALICE in Germany on Amiga 32.
It was very nice.
You have a Amiga system with AmiKit.
It boots up, like it is a amiga and you can use other programs like a decent browser or what ever in a window, like it is a amiga program.
The speed of the computer was ok, but of course there ar always faster computers.
But it is ready for use, and of course that is something you must pay for.

Well, the laptop alone is more than €500 in EU. Maybe a bit less in US.

Good luck with that, really! Hope your solution will also include 3 or more bootable partitions, one of which boots "straight" to OS3, the other one to OS4 and the third one to custom Linux distro visually modified to look like an AmigaOS. Also, will everything be pre-configured, polished and interconnected so you can use Linux apps on OS3 desktop? While you're into it, don't forget to include Amiga Forever and OS4.1FE licenses too. And some easy-to use recovery disk would be also nice in case anything goes wrong. Drop me an email when you're ready and I will buy it from you for half price, please. Hope you deliver worldwide and provide support, warranty... and EU plug too! //irony off, peace.
