@A1200

I've got a PC. Or a laptop. I set up Thunderbird on it. I mostly forget to check emails with it. As I don't switch in on and do an email check as is habitual when I'm using AmgaOS.

But in this case I want to gather Amiga info. Then copy and paste it into an email. Just like I used too.

I don't want to stuff around copying files with info to usb and then copy it out or attach it and send fron another computer. I already did that with the last YAM crash report. I like to use the machine the infomation is on and just get it out.

We have had UTF8 support for years… :-/

And I wonder how can have all this SDL ports, if there is no UTF8 support.
on OS3 and AROS.

Well that's sad but expected. I don't think anyone was expecting anything big. Just to have a stable version released to the public.

I didn't quite understand how there were all these updates that didn't seem to change much. To me it could have used a redesign so adding filter folders was easier. And have built in support for displaying image attachments. What it also really needed was a setup wizard as setting up an account was too complicated. Along with HTML support. And IMAP. Then it would be fine for average daily usage for the most part. But those last ones would be a bit of work and years had passed.

Regarding the reasons. There is AmiSSL which gets updated frequently. Jens worked on it in the past but Oliver (Roberts) is also listed in a later one. I can't say much about UTF8 but I didn't see 7 bit ASCII go out of fashion. Well, it looks like SimpleMail won in the end. By the sounds of it their expectations were too high by expecting all Amiga platforms to support everything. To my knowledge the latest OS3.2 doesn't address many of these issues and not many people would be emailing from a real Amiga anymore. In fact, when I was using YAM regularly on my A1200/030@40Mhz, it dog slow even back then so no way would it be practical now!

A "final" version with the time limit removed would be welcomed.

Having said that, I haven't used email on the Amiga in years.
