| Hi Everyone,
I currently have a Radeon HD5450 in my AmigaOne 500 and I know that it does not support any of the 3d drivers.
What I am wondering is if the Radeon HD6000 series does? I am looking for a passively cooled radeon card which my HD5450 is, but it does not support the 3d stuff for a-eon graphics drivers. So, I have seen some passively cooled radeon hd6000 and wondering if they are supported.
Thanks,
Yogi |

This one is perfect for an AmigaOne 500
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/club-3d-r7-250-low-profile.b2821
Btw look towards the bottom of that link for any alternatives to that card which will also be very suitable for your machine. Last edited by outrun1978 on 20-Jan-2020 at 06:29 AM.

I can't answer your question, but I'll say this. For years I had been obsessed with passive cooling, which ultimately drove me to a situation similar to yours. But then I realized that given the lack of resources, A-EON's future focus will be Polaris and little can be expected as regards further support for RadeonHD. So in the end I got a fan-cooled Polaris card because none were available with passive cooling. To my surprise, the card draws very little power (45W) and the card's fan is so quiet that I can barely hear it. In fact, my case fan is much louder So in the end I don't regret buying an actively-cooled card, as it has opened a world of possibilities with Warp3D Nova. _________________ The Rear Window blog

| Need to say that this is confusing.
I have a Radeon HD7870 card wich I'm planning to use with Tabor. (It has been waited it a years)
What I need :
Radeon HD drivers Warp 3D Nova
But how I get MiniGL? How about older Warp3d games?

XFX haves a passively cooled RX 460. Finding one might be bit tricky tho. |

I believe MiniGL works fine on RadeonHD, you just need to install the minigl.lha package from OS4depot._________________ The Rear Window blog

Yes. As a Polaris user, I happen to have noticed that :)

You need to buy firstly Warp3D SI driver. Its another, not Warp3D Nova driver, but special "old" driver to work on RadeonHD. So once you buy it, you install usuall minigl library from os4depot as Trixies said and all will be fine.
Polaris users didn't have driver for old warp3d, and for them there some minigl replacement working over ogles2, but in current state it's buggy, but works.

I am not sure that this assessment is quite correct . However each new generation of video cards can have more advanced capabilities than the previous generation . So you can do things with Polaris cards that the Radeon SI cards are not capable of .

You cannot use Polaris cards in the X1000 ATM (lost of Uboot sources).
So yes, poor X1000 users. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

Oh Well, I didn't mean that RadeonHD has stopped receiving support but given the conditions in the OS4 market, I doubt the list of RadeonHD cards supporting W3DNova will grow. _________________ The Rear Window blog

| Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the input on the Radeon cards. The reason I like the passive card, is because I like to let my Amigas run non stop 24 hrs a day, and I do that with my AmigaOne Computers as well, just like I did with the classics. And having one less fan that can fail is a good thing. So, it looks like I am going to have to settle with a card with a fan and just keep an eye on it. It is too bad the passive cards do not have 3d support, but I understand, they should focus on the better cards.

| @K-L Hello guys, It is not perfectly clear to me why it is not possible to use polaris with X1000. X1000 doesn't use UBOOT. It uses CFE.
And if it were an initialization problem at startup, however once passed the control to AmigaOS4, it could initialize the graphics card correctly? In that case the only problem would be to not see anything at boot until the AmigaOS4 boot screen.
Did I say something wrong?

Indeed, I meant CFE.
And no, Polaris don't work on X1000. Last edited by K-L on 23-Jan-2020 at 09:16 PM.

Have people tried? Given even with CFE you sometimes need to see things on screen, such as boot menu, not being able to use it with CFE could be a show stopper. I don't know what the issue is, I wonder if the x86 emulator is too old, preventing the card from resetting perhaps. |

| @K-L I can be wrong, but I remember someone told me that Polaris works on x1000: not in CFE. So theoretically if you hookup serial cable, you can do all the stuff to at least set up everything (it possible from console on PC to which you send serial data to send data back, i.e. setup things from another computer in CFE).
Once that done, and if you have no big needs to go to CFE often (probably that the case), then Polaris can be used.
But I am not 100% sure, I just remember someone told me that it just didn't work on CFE, but works in os4 on x1000. _________________ Join us to improve dopus5! zerohero's mirror of os4/os3 crosscompiler suites |
