Testers wanted for Cinnamon Writer

I am looking for pre-alpha testers for Cinnamon Writer (CW). CW is a word-like WYSIWYG editor made for the amiga from the ground up. This version (1.0) will feature DOCX (load/save) compatibility, spell checking, images, textboxes, export to PDF and more.

I am looking for a dedicated and patient team to help me in with the testing. If you would like to apply, you can pm me here or comment in the thread.

However:

You should not sign up if:
- You just want to see the progress of CW - Pre-alphas are on purpose not end-user friendly. Better to wait until the pre-release versions are available
- Patience is not your virtue. (With a full-time job and two kids some bugs will probably not be fixed the same day they are reported)

You should definetely sign up if:
- You think it could be fun
- You use word, or similar, daily and you are used write and use complex documents - You have access to a mac. I develop on my laptop mac, which has much better portability, developer tools and raw CPU power than my amiga

I as beta-tester can get out all the shit from your soul till it will be bug-free. So if you wish normal tests for os4 version, count me it :) Through I do not have Mac, just usual x86 and x5000 with os4.

I mean, you use Mac just as a cross-compiler, or you want to make firstly Mac version and only after it will be fine port it to os4/mos/aros?

Whilst I won’t be applying due to work and too many other commitments, may I wish you success in this endeavour as will be nice to see an updated version of this programme on my X5000 when it appears 😊

Hi all

Thank you all for all your quick replies.
I see that one of my lines missed a return. It is important at this stage that the testers have access to a intel based Mac. The functionality to be tested is OS agnostic, and it would save me a lot of trouble not to be forced to do cross-compiling for every iteration. I know that rule out a lot of good help :(
The OS X version of CW consists of a very slim GUI on top of the CW core. The GUI completely crap, but it is not what need to be tested right now

@Desler

What version of macOS is needed as a minimum? I have an old Snow Leopard model (10.6) that I could dump the Linux off of temporarily.

I have plenty of Intel macOS machines available to test on too.

@Samurai_Crow

It 'should' work on Snow Leopard. It requires very little from OS X to run. If you wouldn't mind the trouble of setting up your Mac temporarily let me know and I will send you further instructions :)

I do have an XCode setup but it's on a 10.5 PPC Mac so likely too old to be useful. Even though the OS4 port has PPC. I also a Linux x64 OS4 cross compiler setup.

@Desler

Building for Snow Leopard doesn't really work on modern versions of XCode. What version of XCode are you running?

I have an old x86, Core2Duo Mac Mini that I could set up to do testing from Snow Leopard. Let me know if you are still accepting more pre-alpha testers.

Hi All

Everyone who signed up in this thread (or sent me a PM) has received a PM with my private email for further contact. If you have not received the PM and would still like to participate (and got a x86 Mac) reply me here or send me a PM.

Thank you all for your interest.

If you are in doubt whether or not different OS X versions that can be used for testing, then send me an email and we will just try it out :)
