No matter if your Amiga is brand new or if it has been made in the 1980s, its case and keyboard are both subjects to a potentially harsh environment. Famous youtubers like David "The 8 Bit Guy" Murphy and RetroManCave usually refer to residue build-up as "grime", and according to some sources computers may host more harmful bacteria than bathroom seats. In this AmigaWorld.net Special Poll, you are kindly asked to share how often you wash your hands before using your Amiga.

@Petah

I have a PC laptop that I use as a permanent display of the state of my solar power system.

After touching that machine, I always have to wash my hands before I touch any of my Amigas.

Every time I've done something that could reasonable change the perfect preexisting fauna of keyboard bacteria in a negative way. Once in a while or whenever it's needed I clean my keyboards with rubbing alcohol and baby wipes.

Never specifically for using my Amiga.
Like any normal person I wash my hands if theyre dirty and clean my computer keyboards too.
Pre-emptively washing your hands prior to touching a keyboard does more or less nothing for the state of a keyboard unless a persons handy are regularly particularly dirty. The grime, etc. comes from oils in the hands and the dirt (even if imperceivable) they pickup from the general workspace.

Weidest. Thread. Ever.

Weird thread!

I'm surprised there isn't an EU regulation to cover this eventuality

... gotta love that EU bureaucracy

I tried yo check 'it's complicated' (I have OCD--I wash my hands between keystrokes ) but it didn't seem to like that. Since then, I found that I wasn't logged in, so I'll try again....

Yeah I know, it's almost like the EU wants us to think the bureaucratic boy's club makes members richer and stronger whilst they down play the European Commission's role to make laws and regulations that usurp sovereign nation's legislation! Why would they not put their tendrils into every area of our lives when they are unopposed, self serving and pay only lip service to representing EU citizens and instead serve the ideals of the EU behemoth itself backed up by 32,000 civil servants! The 'elected' (by less than 50% of the voting populace) European Parliament just fight over some of the detail and ultimately cow down to the Commission in practice. The Commission are an example of technocratic governance at it's worst and we have sleep walked into this eventuality because of the ease of holidaying abroad with no visas and the appeasement felt as our house prices and stocks continue rising! We settled into the comfortable status quo of subsidies and shady unaccountability and put our feet up while democracy died!

Yeah they would legislate on dirty keyboards if they could, just as they'd like to enlist a European army and start strutting their stuff as the European Government of the United States of Europe! They treat the UK with disdain and think that an independent United Kingdom should owe them fishing rights in return for a fair trade deal! Jog on EU and the sooner the European Council retakes the executive powers from the Commission the better! All European countries should be trading partners with no Seb Blatter type federalist politicians on the pay roll. No supranational entity should tell another country what laws to adopt in order to be allowed to trade with its members on a fair basis!

More than grime you should be worrying about airborne illnesses.

Should we put something like this to the fan?
