Oh and if perhaps someone is interested in a challenge made at equal terms between modern Amigas and modern Macs it will be necessary porting Stockfish Chess Engine in Amiga. I suppose we will see more exciting and thrilling matches then...

Funny indeed. I had already seen the video a few days ago. At that time, battel chess was a very beautiful graphic game _________________ Amiga 500+, Pi 3b+ and Amiga os 3.10 Amikit XE usb Stick Powerbook 17" and MorphOS 3.13 PowerMac G5 2.3 MP and MorphOS 3.13 Sam 460 with Amiga os 4.1 and checkmate 1500 www.sitedesign.be |

I live in the same city as PeriFractic, albeit in a different area, however i think i did stumble on him once at the SCCAN meeting couple years ago in Northridge but cannot remember properly how things did unfold...
...and i want to remember that, unlike Italy, people here in the US hardly go out of their usual social circles Last edited by saimon69 on 26-Feb-2020 at 09:32 PM.

In whole world people don't usually go out of their social circles of acquaintances...
But how this fact is related with the topic of the thread regarding Chess? _________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." (J.L. Gassée, former CEO of Apple France and chief of devs of Mac II-fx, interviewed by Amazing Computing, Nov 1996). |

Yes but Battlechess didn't have a great Chess AI engine.
It seems to me it stopped at 1600 ELO Ranking, that is a good ranking but sure not an excellent one.
Nowadays there are two great Chess Engines open source and are Stockfish and Crafty.
Porting these engines on Amiga will be a great achievement and then Amiga and Macintosh both could challenge with same AI level... Last edited by Raffaele on 28-Feb-2020 at 12:38 PM.

You appear to be a careless user, for your information Stockfish 5 the chess engine, was ported to OS4 by me and Domenico Lattanzi, released in January 2015 (!) : http://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=game/board/stockfish-5.lha
Domenico recently also developed a GUI application to drive the engine, Amifish: http://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=game/board/amifish.lha
Both the downloads are also available from Aminet, if you search well. _________________ SAM440EP-FLEX @ 733 Mhz, AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1 |
