Currently Aros is tested and optimized on V4 Standalone. Base is my new distribution that is currently in development. It is creating look and feel of 3.1

short impression:
http://www.aros-platform.de/Aros_31.png

Network, RTG and SD-Card support work

It is based on magellan and views/plays many formats like mp3, wave, mods and many graphic formats.

It is currently in testing. Reports are here:
http://www.apollo-core.com/knowledge.php?b=10¬e=28491&z=BiR1jS

I am pretty sure people will like it

it will be available for V4 and UAE. V2 support will hopefully follow (IDE boot problem still there)

@OlafS25

I love the 3.1 look! How's the performance compared to the original?

@sTix

I do not own a vampire myself so cannot say more about speed

Cotter did a lot of videos using his Caffeine distribution that uses the same base:
https://www.youtube.com/user/pcotter1972

Aros+Magellan

So I assume it is similar, perhaps slightly faster because it not uses fancy stuff

On second thought,

http://www.apollo-core.com/knowledge.php?b=10¬e=28491&z=BiR1jS

why everyone on that page seem to have a mugshot for profile picture?
Has this something to do with the alleged illegality of Aros?

Signed and Sealed,
MEGA_RJ_MICAL

Could you elaborate?

@OlafS25

Just tested, and it does run on Amibian 1.5.
It is a bit slow compared to the WB3.9 setup I normally use.

@amyren

the desktop is certainly slower and heavier as the Workbench

The Amiga OS is highly optimized for the hardware, no other OS can reach that on the configuration

Friend Overflow,

I could! But it would be a pointless exercise, and it is my utmost desire to always, always have a point.

Let's just quietly sit back and bask in the glory of a truly modern-yet-retro OS while others struggle to keep their nervous tics at bay while wasting their time with the impossible task of salvaging the wreck that is AmigaOS!

Sincerely yours from the deepest of my heart,
MEGA_RJ_MICAL

@Overflow

one first youtube video running aros vision special V4 edition

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQOXbwmbHOQ&feature=youtu.be

it is in italian but you can see how it behaves

This is the official version for V4, I plan to offer versions for HDF and UAE of a plain 3.1 distribution.

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL

Then if you aren't going to elaborate and just throw out unsubstantiated crap then please shut up.
If you don't have the stones to actually state something then keep quiet

REALLY tired of people like you stirring the pot for no reason and not providing anything of use.
Please go away

@outlawal2

Friend Outlawal2!
Why such heat in your words! Is it, perhaps, due to challenges with the English language?

You would have otherwise understood that my comment on the "mugshots" was merely a joke on the quality of the profile picture of the users from that message boards.

Similarly, you would have understood that my other comments are genuine. I truly appreciate Aros 68k with a Workbench 3.1 look and the power of Vampire V4 under the hood.

Sheathe your weapon, friend Outlawal2, hug me, and feel free to bring Outlawal1 to the warmth of my embrace too, if available.

My best regards to you,
MEGA_RJ_MICAL

@sTix

there is a video using the desktop on V4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQOXbwmbHOQ&t=11s

this version is changed optical compared to my version and video in italian but I think it shows how fast it is on vampire

this is a recent screenshot showing testing of clipboard handler

@OlafS25

68k is obviously the place to be right now, it's very tempting to try to get hold of a Vampire. I need try AROS Vision as well (and replace the glossy MorphOS icons with the clean set you have there).

@OlafS25

Currently outer circumstances prevents me from spending time with Amiga things. I will test as soon as this virus mess is over (whenever that is). UAE is a good starting point.
