@mr2

Well it's my guess A-Eon will carry on being silent until the A1222 can be shipped.
It's possibly part of the package to showcase the new machine and attempt to demonstrate it's not the dogs dinner some people have made it out to be.

I don't have any inside info, just total guesswork on my part.

Cheers

You shouldn't expect anyone to support your XE machines anymore. The fact that they are still supported is a bonus. I guess you're bitter in that the software was never as comprehensive as you were hoping when you bought them but that's life I'm afraid. A-EON weren't responsible and they have generally invested in quality hardware and software developers! Support them if you want or don't if you're bitter at Eyetech?! Just don't expect me to understand. What's the ultimate GFX program anyway? Deluxe Paint VI or NewTek LightWave 3D 2019? Have you offered EA a couple of million £ for the Deluxe Paint rights and source code or maybe you've offered to port Lightwave for Newtek for free? Idon't really understand the level of expectation to be honest.

So A-EON should only expect you to take an interest in the A1222 if they help produce internet / graphics software for 16 year old Teron / Mai Logic hardware that they had no part in bringing to market?! Is that about right?

Have you read the license agreement? You can't really do anything with those DPaint I sources, other than compile it for yourself, or play around with changes, but only run the derivative work on your computer, not share it with anyone else.

Actually the Classic line is still supported. Which is why a few Classic FE editions would have been sold for use under UAE.

So yes the XE can be expected to be supported as well.

Unless there is a PCI to PCIe card that works in the XE to plug in a better video card there isn't much point for graphic drivers. Last I checked compositing worked on a 9200 series card without being crippled by FE. For extra software the basic Enhancer package would suit to fix things like Partition Wizard.

@asymetrix

I didn't know this. Thanks. It's only version 1 so only of historical value now. DPaint 4 AGA or 5 would be grand for porting to OS4. It's da bomb.

As it stands this would be like having Wordworth 1 source code to port to OS4. Which would be like bringing a KindWords level kind of application to OS4.
