| I posted a couple more screen shots of the game I've been calling "New Civ". The screenshots are in the images section. There could be some delay because they have to be okayed. I'm going to rename it soon because it's getting farther and farther from Civilization. One screen shot shows the screen used to assign personnel to a unit. There is the person in charge. He or she is the team leader, driver, or manager. There can also be a number of crew members or staff. A unit can be a building or a vehicle. It might even be an individual person on foot. Units can be packaged together to provide optional capabilities. For simplicity they all have the same basic data structure. The same screen can be used to assign people to a building for training and the one in charge might be a teacher.
The main conflict will be with alien lifeforms which might be extremely dangerous. I'm toying with the possibility of Alien-like creatures and taking the game in that direction. The aliens could ambush a unit / vehicle and take all the people out of it leaving an empty vehicle. The battles between the player and the computer players are civilized industrial wars that consist of sabotage, theft, and espionage. I'm sort of letting the game take me where it wants to go. I don't know where that is yet.
I have been working on basic game mechanics and graphics. The terrain generator is one I wrote for another game. It generates islands surrounded by water. To increase the size of the game world, I'm thinking of using several of these islands that can be reached by boat or air craft. They would be paged in and out of the game space as needed. There is theoretically no limit to the number of islands. I could even page the islands off onto disk. Computer hardware has gotten so fast that it hardly matters anymore. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

One could interpret your remarks the wrong way and assume you are being sarcastic. The goal is murky, the graphics are mediocre, and it will never be completed. I'm just one person. I don't have a team of artists like most games. What does it matter anyway? I said it was just a hobby. Is there something wrong with that? _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

That's always been my problem too. I have a lot of projects started; some of them will never be finished.
I like to work on two of them at a time; that way, if I get stuck on one I can move to the other for a while. When one of them is finished, I will add a third._________________ "Unix is supposed to fix that." -- Jay Miner |
