Hi everyone,

Fired up Quake earlier today, but the sound has suddenly become crackling/garbling. The speed of the game itself is fast as it was the last time I tried it.

It is this version I'm using:

http://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=game/fps/quake.lha

Computer is Sam460 with latest AmigaOS 4.1 FE update.

The only change I've done is to change from LCD to CRT monitor. I think Quake looks brilliant on CRT, which goes for many old classics as well.

Computer is connected with external speakers and I have no problems with other software (as far as I know). Tried a few games in DOSBox and those worked fine.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

@AmigaOldskooler

Found a solution to the problem. Posting it here in case someone else should experience sound problems with the game.

Sat stack to 300000 according to the information in the readme-file.

Ran the game from CLI with the following command:

"quake -ahi -audspeed 48000 -cgfx"

Adding "audspeed" and setting the sound sampling rate to a higher value made the sound properly again.

Earlier I ran it through the launcher/GUI.
