Those shows for me were the last of the glory days - a bustling classic scene and so much hope for the future with OS4/MorphOS. So many characters - Commodore/Amiga engineers and staff, Amiga devs and fans - so many have dropped out of the scene or have sadly died. It will never be the same but we can remember!

Sweeeeeeet! Bb4 is the only one I attended, Peterborough is quite a way for me to reach, it was the first time I caught a train on my own, very unnerving but I made the effort!

For bb3 I sent the editor a preview of my Amiga generated movie, The Mysterious City of Cold, which Ryu later uploaded to his site. By bb4 I had finished the movie and brought a copy myself to show, which Ryu later also uploaded. This was all before I joined Facebook and uploaded my work there, then later made a YouTube channel.

Yes, several of these people have since left the scene, but I still speak to the editor, plus4 and others on Facebook!

I'm not sure if it's just the photos you happen to have taken, but BB1&2 look deserted! BB3 looks busier than I remember, and BB4 looks maybe moderately busy.

Was that really 2004? Still optimism back then for new hardware and the new OS, and actually a fun thing to be part of. These days I've just basically given up (although replying here has reminded me of something Amiga-related I was going to do earlier)

I used to frequent aw.net as often as I do Facebook now, back then I preferred MySpace but everyone I knew migrated to FB so I did. You really needed broadband for such social networking sites, which I didn't reliably get until about '06, and aw.net ran (runs?) just fine on dialup, aka "narrowband."

This site was much busier, and had several spammers who reformed, including ME! Some of the mods got a bit cross with me, including one who is no longer with us

Awesome seeing all "The Faces" again.

It was good fun but hard work and wouldn't have been anywhere near as good had not some very knowledgeable and enthusiastic people (yourself included) not lent their support.

It seems incredible that we streamed the event via my homes 8mb internet connection using Jurassics "Camper" as a repeater midway to the hall.

Also thanks to Rudei for letting me know on Fb that you had posted this.
I don't visit here very much these days as I'm now "into" 3D printing & design & ebikes etc

I use Ubuntu 100% but I wonder if Cura / Prusa etc would work on O/s4+ ?

From memory Chris, BB2 was the most attended and it fizzled out after then. I think a lot of my pics were taken earlier/later in the day. I will try and find other show reports - I know SEAL did some coverage in Total Amiga Magazine. Paul may have some attendance numbers - I didn't keep that level of documentation - although I did find a show budget document that was interesting to read!

Edit: I can't see any evidence that BB2 was more attended. People if you have your own pics, please upload them or share them with me and I will upload them so we can all see! :)

Good to hear from you Rudei. OS4 plans and dreams were all wasted on me, I was classic through and through so never got disappointed by the lack of progress. OS4 always seemed a re-imagining of the greatness that made the Amiga good in the 80s and 90s, not far off emulation really. Still running KS/WB 3.1 on my 2 A1200 machines :)

Paul that 3D printer looks impressive - never owned one but have purchased a few 3D printed trapdoor covers etc. over the years. Amazing doing fabrication @ home.

The Big Bashes were definitely the peak of my Amiga journey - thank you all who attended and especially Paul for opening up your house to all us nerds, for 3CAG and pre and post BB setup, you and Sue made us so welcome.

Who is Austin Duffield? I guess I would know him as his alias?

Only ever managed to get to BB4 but enjoyed it.

I'd brought my A1-XE G4 and had a table but it failed.

Tried three or four times to reinstall OS4, which at least showed a few folk what the install was like, but wouldn't restart in the OS.

I won a Sil ATA card in the raffle and tried again, using the Sil card AND THE CABLE - Bingo. The flaming cable I'd used had given me problems.

After loading up, I never turned the machine off for several years, updating where necessary.

Unfortunately, the machine is once again giving me problems and I'm waiting for my A1222 to arrive!

I remember that show well. Mate of mine borrowed off me to get an accelerator for his 1200, then got called into the office and given the P45 treatment the following Monday.

I still like the MCC case, shame they didn’t find some innards for it.

There is not much online of The Party, Assembly, WoA, Big Bashes, Nova etc. Quite a lot of revision is documented as videos, the latter years at least. This history has a potential to be lost. Anyone who has a load of photos/video should be duty bound to upload before they or the footage dies and is lost forever!

I have been using AmigaForever premium edition and notice many of the classic shows from all over the world have photos on the Amiga Faces section.
