We usually refer to him with Michele or MCB, we have a different form fot the female name (Michela), so no confusion here.

Is Michele your "Amico"?

No, I don't know him that well, I only met him at some old fairs.

Quote:

Italian Michele: Mic ele (perhaps Mic would have been a closer sounding nickname than Mike?)

Yes, Mic gives you an idea of our pronunciation, you can safely use that

The new Intellivision Amico doesn't have much to do with the old Intellivision. I see the controllers are retained (ergonomics any good?) and the focus on local multiplayer games (fun but online multiplayer is the trend emphasized with social distancing of Covid).

I know but it's backed by the BSR who were among the original developers and now own the copyrights.
It's more geared towards casual gamers like the Wii was, but I'm not a casual gamer so I haven't preordered it. Btw I'm both curious and happy to see them try and I'm also curious to see what will come out from the original IPs.
I might buy one if it ever becomes cheaper and depending on what games there will be (especially if they release the old games in some form).
As far as ergonomics are concerned I don't have problems with the disc controller, I find it useful for some kind of games, I liked the originals.

From what I heard so far, the italian "Michele" sounds like:

Mick(Jagger)(Ukul)ele

I think it woul be safe to call him "Jaggernaut", like the musical album by Michael Wadada.

Now that it's actually happened, I'm not so sure of my initial assessment. It's now plain that "Amico" is too close to avoid a lawsuit, but I'm less certain that the plaintiff will prevail in court. I suppose it will have a lot to do with precedent established in similar cases, with which I am unfamiliar.

Now their response previously scheduled for August 29 is not happening.

Instead Intellivision Entertainment LLC filed today:

Consent Motion for Suspension for Settlement

Curious.

@bison

As with all legal filings related to Amiga, this morning a new delay was filed:

this extension was granted

Disappointing, but not surprising.

@bison I agree it is not. But dont mix up Hyperion vs Cloanto with Cloanto vs Intellivision. This case iy only about the similarity between "Intellivision Amico" and Amiga. It has almost no relevance for us.

Relevance might depend on whom this 3rd party is, no?

So why don't they also "sue" Amica Insurance in the US? This Intellivision thing seems frivilous...

Different class of goods. As you know it's not just about the name or the spelling.

@Hondo

I think it would be cool if the www.amiga.com website had the history of the Amiga available for new people.

Maybe I missed the message about it above, but did everyone see the latest http://www.amiga.com site with new graphics and page source?

@Michael Battilana : I think if you can get us moving forward again you will gain many many supporters.
