Given the early stage of this project, and the subsequent funding that will be required for additional phases of development, I don't see engineering samples being ready until 2022.
Coupled with the speed at which Hyperion preps AmigaOS 4.x for new hardware, I wouldn't expect to see AmigaOS 4.x + retail version of this laptop until well into 2023. And perhaps 2 weeks after that.
Time may work differently in the Amigaverse, but anyway you slice it that is a long wait for a train that may never come. _________________ All the way, with 68k |

I'll be surprised if the laptop project is ever finished. OTOH, why not offer this as an AIO(minus screen) compputer or a board only? Would lower the price. Do not see much point in building a laptop that is bound to be pricey around such a slow and outdated chip. When there are cheap PPC mac laptops around... _________________

This one will demolish old PowerMac laptops, (Last Apple IBook/PowerPC was a singel core G4 (PowerPC 7447a) from 2004 to 2006) so that was a 32bit, singel core CPU, with 1 GB of RAM.
With a 2004 laptop graphic card. NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM (12") ATI Radeon 9700 with 128 MB of DDR SDRAM (15" and 17")
So by todays standard not lot of graphic card memory.
I'm also skeptical if they can bring the price down, but they can always prove me wrong.
I agree that building it small as possible make more sense, then building a full size laptop, for examples if build tiny PCB you fit into existing raspberry laptop boxes, they are pretty nice.

I sincerely hope that A1222 "Tabor" is kept under consideration as one of the main boards. All the more, ACube is in it (the project).

That’s a different project by Hanz, nothing to do with this project, and you can’t really compare this two projects.
I hope Hanz continue working on that project, its interesting, as do not know if AmigaOS4 ever be supported by ACube thing, we can be sure Hanz based laptop already support AmigaOS4, but main issue is the form factor of the PCB. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 14-Sep-2020 at 07:51 PM.

Too bad Freescale or NXP didn't design "ready to ship" laptop reference designs like Intel's laptop design reference.
