@hardwaretech

not only xp, but also these

"In addition to Windows XP Windows Server 2003, the leaked data contains source code for Windows 2000, Windows NT 3.5 and 4, Windows 2000, Windows Embedded (various versions), MS-DOS 3.30 and 6, the first Xbox operating system, and even parts of Windows 10 components (some of which had already been leaked at various points in the past)."

Just another thing where AmigaOS was prior to Windows...

This are good news for the ReactOS fans and programers, nos they can access to Windos API and Direct X to get better their free Windows clon.

@Lou

I've tried ReactOS a couple of times and didn't get far. It does faithfully reproduce the BSoD on my hardware.

Their own code of conduct denies using that code. Besides, windows API's are really well documented already. Using leaked code would be really fast way to get whole project closed.
Guess why they closed they source in 2006 for 1.5 years for code audit. ReactOS also has a Intellectual Property Policy Statement requirements on clean room reverse engineering.

Hey, they have had only 24 years to work on it so can't expect much . At least they make OS4 progress to look less glacial

A discussion topic about a foreign operating system on an Amiga forum, placed in General Amiga Chat. What's next, anyone frequenting this part of the Internet may ask themselves. How to walk your dog? Recipes for vegan egg rolls? Ten good tips for the perfect romantic weekend getaway?

One: Be spontaneous! Although it’s tempting to plan every last detail of your getaway to make sure it goes perfectly, you’ll be too stressed to enjoy yourselves. Come up with a list of things you’d like to do and then just go with the flow.

Two: Think different! No, we’re not talking about the core ingredient for a good tarte tatin here, but who wants to be surrounded by everyone else? This is time just for the two of you, do something that gets you far from the madding crowd.

Three: Make it meaningful! Choose places, food and themes that remind you of each other, when and where you met, what you did on your first date...

Four: Turn the phone off! Your clients aren’t the ones feeding you chocolate-coated strawberries later.

Five: All work and no play makes jack a dull boy, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy...

Six: Where did I leave that axe?

Seven: Heeeere’s Johnny!

Ye Gods... how do journos do it?

@Petah

Well there can be interesting stuff in there, but it’s risky as hell.

I guess there Bluetooth code, driver code, printer device and printer system, abstraction and virtualization methods, stuff that was never intended to be shared.

It be lot less risky to simply stick to Linux drivers and code, not having to worry about legal issues down the road.

Excellent. Now all we need to do is port the extra code into OS4. And OS4 will be up to date.

Yep, that could add some extra spice to the neverending legal debacle we've been stuck in since the fall of the Soviet union

@sTix

In 4 years, in 2025, Amiga's birth in 1985 will be equally many year away for us, as world war 2 was in 1985.

But hey, what's a few decades when fighting over silly copyrights and who gets to rightfully do what...

Oh, and my FPGA Minimig v1.1 is older today than any A1000 was when Commodore went bust in 1994.

What about long endless discussions of the Paleo diet vs the Vegan diet? Vegans can be just as proned to endless arguments as Amiga users. Maybe even more so.

@DiscreetFX

When endless arguments didn't produce meaningful progress, Vegan extremist's protest has resulted in physical damage.

Yes, it's absurd, the CBM days are soon just a blip on the radar. The early AmigaOne machines are slowly turning into classics. Wish I kept them.

So the Minimig is now a retro retro-computer.
