@Zylesea

Really a great news, jacadcaps superhero!
MOS Team has really very skilled programmers, maybe the best in Amiga world! And maybe even outside.
Thanks to everybody involved.

@Zylesea

Very cool. Might have to dig the G5 Tower of Power (Consumption) out of storage and have another go. Last time, I couldn’t get the Ethernet working to save my life.

@evilFrog

I have to intall new MorphOS 3.14 on my G5 quad and try it on this still not officially supported hardware.
For now I'm writing from Pegasos 2 and Wayfarer, very good compatibility with all my favoutire sites!
A bit slow on first seconds, later I can scroll pages in a fluent way.
It's a miracle on a G4 single core, anyway it's faster than OWB/Odissey.. Only IBrowse seems to be faster.

Maybe Jacadcaps could have still some speed improvements in next versions??

Because this new browser is based on a recent 2020 version of WebCore, and completely different than OWB/Odyssey's under pinnings, it might not be faster on some websites. I think that jadacaps warned users on MorphZone.org about possibly being a little bit slower, on some websites, than the OWB/Odyssey web browser many people are currently using. Also, be aware that video and audio playback are not yet implemented in Wayfarer.

It is an amazing feat that one programmer (with some help from Piru), could get us a brand new, written from scratch, web browser, in the short amount of time that jadacaps has accomplished this. My hat is off to him, as well as a few donations over the course of the last 9 months. I hope others will appreciate his work, and donate on the Wayfarer site (or directly to Jacek), so he will feel it's worth his free time to keep this browser up to date and add missing features.

Edit: I believe that some users are reporting that Wayfarer runs a little bit faster the 2nd time it is used to visit the same websites. I haven't had time to update my MorphOS systems and install Wayfarer myself, but hope to do so soon.

Indeed!

But while jacadcaps absolutely has done all the heavy-lifting on the actual web browser, I think it has been said many times that as a whole, the realization of it took some work from the rest of the MorphOS team as well. Many parts of the OS itself (as well as the SDK) has been modified/updated in order to meet even the basic criteria for this application to even compile and to be able to run. So it definitely has been a group effort as a whole!

The MorphOS Team are gods! The collective competence they posses is unprecedented!

And indeed, the contributions by jacadcaps lately has been incredible. Scout NG, the modern HTML- and IMAP-enabled E-mail client Iris (officially supported by Gmail ), and now the Wayfarer browser. And all the other stuff as well of course.

Definitely worthy of some monetary donations!

Maybe. But you have to remember (and acknowledge) that PPC and our vintage machines came to a halt some 1.5 decades ago, the PPC platform is since then dead and and has turned ancient, while applications like WebKit has continued to evolve and takes modern HW for granted.

The minimum recommended spec for Wayfarer is 1.5 GHz G4 CPU and 1 GB RAM. The more the merrier.

We definitely need a migration to modern HW...

@TRIPOS

To be more precise: Wayfarer requires MorphOS 3.14 and at least 1GB of RAM. A 1.5GHz or faster CPU with Altivec highly recommended.

@TRIPOS
Wayfarer runs with my PowerBook with 512MB, only it has the limitation of a limited number of sites to visited, but it is possible if you have one ancient computer with is memory limitations.
