So just watched Stephen Jones latest Youtube video on his Checkmate mini ITX case, you can back it and find out more here:-

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/checkmate1500mini/amiga-3000-inspired-mini-itx-computer-case?ref=discovery&term=checkmate

What I find more impressive however, is he managed to get two popular Amiga FPGA solutions made into ITX standards,

UnAmiga ( https://github.com/benitoss/UnAmiga )

Mist ( https://github.com/mist-devel/mist-board/wiki )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsrakyE9Dn8

You could also get a Pi4 turned into ITX, I think these are looking like pretty nice looking and simple systems, I do feel that there is a market out there for more of this kind of complete setup prebuild systems with these boards, as say what you like some people are not hardware or software tinker or may not have the time to set up these system or may simple prefer them in ITX standards, plus the cases choices for ITX motherboard are huge, much more than what these FPGA boards had before.

I do think Amiga world is missing out on a market in the retro world for a simple all in one classic Amiga solution.

I know there rumours for mini Amiga as well
https://amigang.com/prototype-amigamini-thea500/

But I do like what Im seeing with efforts to improve Amiga Arm support via both emulation and Aros support better and slightly more consumer/industry friendly FPGA boards.

I feel more work on these areas will only help Amiga in the retro market, so thanks to Stephen for making more retro Amiga solution!

(i personally don't need or have the room for another Amiga :( I am tempted to get the pi400 or just pi4 to play with so will keep an eye on what happens with ami-hybrid )

@amigang

Great post and thanks for sharing it. I did send in a news report but it seems to have been ignored sadly.

Any way, interesting to see a lack of interest in the FPGA side of things where outside of this site the interest is huge

Although a sample size of 11 so far is a little small.

Steve

@amigang

My vote goes to the unAmiga.

The unAmiga ITX looks great, if the price can be kept close to or even lower than the A500 version then I think it hits the mark for price to performance to use as an Amiga.

For me Stephen's new case plus this new unAmiga is looking like an attractive option compared to buying an ageing A1200, which seem to be getting more and more expensive and come with the hassle of recapping and repairs. Also see that the new ITX board will have some RTG modes which is great news.

@dan.hutch

Here is the pricing list, and remembering I have to add Vat on top and a little profit please.

It is a shame that my news story never got posted on this site that I have been a member of for so long?

This is going to be a great option for us in the community. It feels like a brand new Amiga since we can get it with the UnAmiga or a Pi solution.

I certainly do not need another computer, or another case... But I am going to get one anyways, because AMIGA!

@amigang

Will this case support the A1222 ITX board?

@AmigaMac

Yes but you'd need to use a single slot low profile Radeon card unless you find the very basic onboard video to be enough for your needs.
