| Plz Devs of AmigaOS 4.1 FE i think that the next update or version must support PDF files!!
Why don't add a version of RNOPublisher integrated as VIEWER- READER and WRITER OR MODIFIER into next Update of AmigaOS 4.1 FE?? I think is a must have and we should not give up this option absolutely!! |

I can write my own md viewer, but its only suggestion of something we don’t have. |
Wouldn't a MarkDown datatype make much more sense than a viewer for one file format?

It does support reading them but it it slow and error prone on the latest PDF files.
Do you mean editing? That is something not even Windows would do out of the box and Linux doesn't either. Full PDF editors tend to be commercial products by Adobe.
I don't know what you expect but OS4 only has dated PDF read support. AmiPDF won't be supporting editing anytime soon. And unless RNOPublisher is a free product with source code available that won't be included either. |

RNOPublisher is written 100% in Hollywood using a plugin. The plugin is based on an open-source viewer provided in the Chrome browser sources. What more do you need? |

RNOPublisher is only for creating PDF files, but not for opening, viewing, or editing them. It can only open documents saved to its own format.
But I've also written couple of programs (RNOPDF and RNOComics) to view PDF files for that matter.

RNOPublisher is a free product, although donations are appreciated. Initial development was financed by a user from the AROS camp, but it wasn't big enough to be AROS exclusive (and it wasn't asked to be either) ;) Thanks to there for the existence of the product anyway. Source code might be available depending who asks it and for what :)
And the PDF creating part of the Hollywood plugin is actually based on libHaru, which is also an open source library. The viewing part (which RNOPublisher doesn't use, but the other two programs mentioned above do use) is based on the PDFium used in Chrome etc.

A PDF datatype should be based directly on some publically available libraries, because all these viewers/creators are based on them too and there's no need to base datatypes to whole programs with all the bells and whistles which wouldn't be used via the datatype system anyway.
Someone skilled enough should just write a datatype based on Poppler/XPDF/PDFium or something like that, but these separate full programs don't help in this case much.

I guess it might show small preview images at least, but would that be that useful? But other programs like MultiView could then open full pages depending how the datatype would be designed... I'm not aware of limitations of the datatype system that well that I could make guesses how well it could be possible to get it work for this kind of data, but I guess it could at least render and present some pages as images or animation and be viewable that way.
