@Nimrod

The point is no one knows who their MEP is, doesn’t know how to contact them and doesn’t know which EU Parliament mega party they are seconded to once sitting in the Parliament. They don’t properly represent us and simply debate the laws proposed by the Commission which is a quango seemingly made up of ‘mates’ of the heads of state!

The EU might allow Article 50 to be triggered but that hadn’t been tested until Brexit and the pressure from the EU for a undemocratic ‘second referendum’ was massive. We were lucky to escape the huge gravitational pull of the EU behemoth while we still could. The mantra “we are stronger together” is used to disguise a huge deficit of voter representation at the heart of EU decision making.

Whether we become a godless failed state or a faithful entrepreneurial example to the world built on the Protestant work ethic, it should be on our own terms whether we sink or swim. That way we only have ourselves to blame if we fail and no one else to take the credit if we succeed (other than God for his provision and faithfulness but He will still provide if there’s hard economic times). And yes I give thanks to God for the NHS especially during the pandemic but HE is the one who saves NOT ultimately the scientists, medics and our professional over-class!

That said, Happy New Year to all those scientists/army logistics specialists working on the vaccine roll out and the nurses and doctors for all the hard work caring for the sick and vulnerable. Thanks also to the politicians and civil servants working hard to make our new trade deal work and all the personnel working at our ports and with import/export work.

2021 will be as good as we make it so let’s pray that we put the effort in, do our bit and may God make up the difference!

@BigD It is strange how you criticise the mantra of "Stronger together" when that was exactly the line trotted out by Tories opposing Scottish independence.
You keep demanding a return to theocracy, yet the times that Europe was run by the churches is referred to as "The Dark Ages", and religion gave us incidents like the Edict of Expulsion ,and leaders like Cromwell, Bloody Mary, and even Henry VIII.
I used to design, build, install, and service electrical control systems for industrial automation. I say "used to" because most of my work was in Europe, but thanks to the xenophobia of people like yourself, parts imported from Europe will soon be subject to tariffs, once DePiffle &Co get around to deciding how much, and finished equipment from the UK will increase by the amounts the EU already applies to third party nations. Incidentally, many of the nurses and doctors you are cynically praising are visitors from the EU,
2021 is about to become a "perfect storm", as Britain reverts to its pre-EEC status as "The sick man of Europe.

P.S. Remind me exactly who voted for Demonic Scummings

How come he doesn't provide universal healthcare in all countries and how come he took so long to come up with it in any country? This is the guy that created the earth and all living things in one week and still had time for a day off at the end.

So nothing to do with NHS recruitment drives in their home countries.

Couldn't get your Latin, something to do with Jupiter and cows?

It should mean what's allowed to Jupiter _must be_ allowed for the cows. Jupiter=uk, cow=Scotland.

To be honest I am not too much for a scottish separation, but the disappointed EU supporter I am would really welcome Scotland within the EU. But Scotland leaving the UK would be complicated and probably not help to heal the inner wounds of split Nation UK.
I still like the UK so much, that I don't want any harm to the country. And I really feel sorry for your latest Corona escalation. Stay safe, stay healthy!

@Zylesea
I see it now, my Latin isn't as good as it once was.
Terentius' "Aliis si licet, tibi non licet" or "Things that I may do, you may not do" is a bit less obscure.

As for the "beer virus" it is giving me time to indulge myself in playing with old and obscure computers. Who knew that being a geek could be so beneficial, especially since there are so few viruses for either my 1200 or my Sam440. Security by obscurity
