Well there is a post telling the opposite: Quote:

The FPGA is a really big Xilinx A7 200T. We have already started looking at the MiniMig core, and it should not be a big problem to make work.

The Mega65 might become an Amiga compatible computer, this would even make it more usable than any C65 core. |

Any hardware or software emulator can emulate Amiga. Even Turbo Cameleon 64 for C64 does that. |

It's not telling the opposite. The main-purpose of the Mega65 is of course to create a more advanced recreation of the Commodore 65. So the main core is the Mega65-core, based on the C65 with a C64-mode.
But as a FPGA-computer it can of course use other cores as well (like all FPGA-systems) and the Mega65-team is open for cores from other developers (not only Minimig by the way). The plan is to attract communities/developers outside the C64/C65-fans.
For me it's ok as long they stay on focus with their own core. But regarding multicore-FPGA-systems there are better and cheaper options wit MiST or Mister.

| I own a MiSTer and it is awesome. I doubt there will be a better FPGA product, but the Mega 65 biggest's selling point (at least for me) is the case + keyboard. Pity there is no similar option which is high end, off the shelf product for MiSTer.

There are cases looking like Amigas and there are high quality keyboards fitting to the MiSTer, something missing on the Mega65.

But I've just read that the price could be as high as €750.(...) Good luck to them and all - it's mammoth project to take on - but my interest wouldn't extend to that kind of money.

That would be too high for me, too. _________________ AmigaOne X5000/40, 2.2 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, Radeon R9 280X, M-Audio Revolution 5.1, 240 GB SSD |

Of course, makes talking about them 'Amiga related'. Last edited by OneTimer1 on 08-Jan-2021 at 07:41 PM.

| @OneTimer1: Maybe, but the Mega65 isn't related to AmigaOS4 or X5000 for sure. That was the main-point.
And except that the Mega65 is based on a FPGA that may run a Minimig-core someday it isn't really related to Amiga, too. The main-purpose and goal is still to recreate a modern version of the Commodore 65.
Let's talk again when a Amiga-core is available.
