Runs fine on my X5000. Didn't do a clean install since my system was pretty clean to begin with (it ran fine before the hotfix as well). _________________

Working fine here on my X5000, reversed my system to the 20201223 backup state I had done before update2, then did the new hotfixed full version of update2.
1. If AmiUpdate is glitching then try download it from here - http://amiupdate.codebench.co.uk/index.php?page=downloads
2. Sounds like the kernel problems some people had before the hotfix, you sure you have the updated(2021) update2 ?
3. Clueless, sorry no idea?
What filesystem are you using on your drives, what graphicscard do you use, graphics driver versions?
Edit: If you have an backup of your SYS: before the update, copy all of Libs: to the new Sys:Libs and when you get an Requester about replacing existing files just press Skip All. Re-boot and test.
If it's the same I'm with kas1e down below, new HDD/SSD and fresh install. Last edited by khayoz on 15-Jan-2021 at 08:23 PM. Last edited by khayoz on 15-Jan-2021 at 08:11 PM.

| @Hypex Remembering the last 10 years, I read you always mess the system very much, never updated fully, half updated, some components recopied from elsewhere, i.e. making mess :)
So, to sort things out if I were you: new HDD, FE + update1 then update2 with the included hotfix. And only then you can check the stuff. You may bloat your system with all sort of stuff (at it was always in the past :) ) _________________ Join us to improve dopus5! zerohero's mirror of os4/os3 crosscompiler suites |

My system is a MicroA1. My system is very stable and working fine after I installed the Hotfix.
I have launched AmiUpdate a few times with no issues (it seemed a bit slow to launch the first time), but worked ok. It shows me a few updates that I don't need right now.
About an hour ago, I reinstalled some Enhancer software. Haven't tried Enhancer Updater yet.
BTW, I haven't used compositing for many years. It takes up too much graphics RAM on the MicroA1.

I realize that my MicroA1 is not as powerful or as modern as the AmigaOne X1000 but here are the steps I followed ...
- used AmiDVD to backup my system partition to CD-R - downloaded original Update 2 lha file. - quick format my system partition - installed AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition from CD - installed Update 1 - installed Update 2 - had many glitches and freezes - rolled back to kernal from Update 1 (everything else U2) - system very stable
When Hotfix became available ...
- downloaded Hotfix lha file using Odyssey - rolled back to faulty kernal from original Update 2 - installed hotfix
No issues since applying hotfix.

So, how's your experience so far? |
Installed update 2 on my X1000 over AmigaOS4 with Update 1 and the latest enhancer software. I had all kinds of problems and instability. Then installed the HotFix and all problems went away. The system is very stable and working well. Last edited by ktadd on 16-Jan-2021 at 05:00 AM.

My X5000 is using a Realtek(?) network card (it doesn't say Realtek anywhere on it). The built-in network connecter on the motherboard doesn't work (I don't know what's going on there. I bought the computer from somebody and all that drama happened before I got it.). When I plugged the network wire in, the computer would lock up as soon as I did. I don't think it was doing that before. I couldn't create a network connection. I created the connection with the cord unplugged. Then plugged it in, rebooted, etc. It seems to be working fine. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I first installed it on a fairly clean volume I where I test updates. But I didn't notice the freeze bug because I had turned compositing turned off so didn't see it. So then installed it to my main volume only to find it wouldn't boot. I did see the other problems. As to installing from scratch, no not yet, that will be next.
I recommend installing the HotFix, which brings better levers of stability. There are some issues in the older one. Which are fixed in the new update. |

I did run into a few bugs and freeze up on my current setup, was thinking maybe need to do a fresh install, but heard about the hotfix coming, waited for that and so far things have improved since the hotfix.
Feel like the OS4 team may need a few more beta testers, but still pleased to see the update.
Going forward are we likly to see big updates like this more often or little patchs? (as I dont want to have to start a fresh OS every update.) _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

Why not just use the onboard adapter of the X5000?

Probably because there is no driver for it. I tried all the available drivers and in every case it said the port couldn't be opened. Maybe the port is disabled in uboot. That's a can of worms I don't want to open. The worm I have is bad enough . _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

1. I downloaded it and installed it. Since it it wouldn't locate the new one no matter what server settings I tried.I wonder if the new self update features broke the old version. Or perhaps it was disabled and I didn't see it. In any case the new version still kills off AmiDock. Well it's still alive but the dock ignores left mouse clicks.
2. I'm sure. I downloaded it manually. It didn't show up in AmiUpdate. I just tried again now. Still not there. Checked and update.amigaos.net is active. It shoulld work but something is broken.
3. Test my old system. MUI apps work fine. Odyssey still crashes but that's normal.
4. I'm usng SFS/1. I have an R7 250. Driver versions below: GUI 54.2 (24/09/2014) IPrefs 53.29 (28/08/2017) RadeonHD.chip 3.6 (26/04/2018) PCIGraphics.card 53.18 (16/11/2019) graphics.library 54.248 (23/02/2020)
Monitor tool types active: CMPLENGTH=14 BOARDNAME=Radeon HD OLAND DDCMODE=All DISABLEFAKENATIVE=Yes INTERRUPT=Yes
5. Yes I backed it up. To make it easier I created a new partion and restored the backup to it. I'm using the old Update 1 system now and it works perfectly fine. |

The A-Eon version of the driver (p50x0_eth.device) is included with the A-Eon Enhancer Software V1.5 which is a free upgrade for the earlier versions.
Version 1.5 released on 30th June 2019 for OS4 platform.

If your on boad interface is not actually working with the driver that is another matter.

Unless you are using multiple Radeon cards at the same time simpler Monitor driver tooltypes for the first two items works and allows replacing Graphics cards without tooltype adjustments.

Most of last ten years I was using my XE as my main machine. It's only the last few years I've been using my X1000. To which it ran mostly fine once I set it up.
However, you seem to forget, it was not a half updated mess of components. It had different versions of AmigaOS installed for whatever reason. Mostly they need to be kept around as OS updates tend to break software. Where did you read about my system and do you have any examples?
What sort of bloat are you talking about? Odyssey? The SDK? SObjects? |
