China didn't want to produce it so ACube now have the honour. ACube seem to have had issues producing a new batch of Sam460CRs never mind a new motherboard design!

We live in a tough market at the moment. The company that I work for is having trouble sourcing components. Lead times have exploded. Some components like STM32F0/1 have a lead time of more than a year. And I work for a multi billion dollars company with substancial buying power. Some of our customers even are asking us to redesign just to be able to keep production going. Last edited by geen_naam on 05-Mar-2021 at 12:39 PM.

And yet in AmigaWorld it’s ALWAYS been “WHEN IT’S DONE!” It’s just now it seems like the components are turning EOL before Amiga products are launched! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Yes, always design with industrial components from companies with a track records of longivity. Like NXP and texas instruments. Those industrial components have a minimum longivity of 15 years. TI promised to keep producing when the annual quantity is equal to at least three wafers. We still start new industrial customer designs with the AM335x series for example.
So stay away from consumer components like audio codecs, sata and usb controlllers. Keep it simple by using the SoCs peripherals and add PCIe connectors for the missing parts like audio and additional sata ports.
Cost of the end product for the amiga market is engineering and value add for small series. Difference between consumer grade and industral grade components is barely noticable in the end price. |

The Raspberry Pi Foundation seem to have no problem knocking out new hardware in the middle of a pandemic.
That Pi400 is a brilliant piece of kit and made in the UK too. _________________ Amigaone X5000/20 4GB Radeon RX 550 Polaris 12 AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition Update 1 Amiga 1200 Workbench 3.1.4 Amiga CD32 |

I saw reviews of it dated december 2020. This means that they started production to fill the warehouses around summer 2020. Sourcing started somewhere around early 2020. Maybe even sooner. So well before the current shortages in the market. |

Yes. Are you referring to Sam460cr components not delivered from Asia, or the manufacturing of the Sam460cr boards? _________________ Aros Retrofit |

A good piece of news in regard to Tabor maybe is that AmigaKit dropped X5000 availability, lately:

OK point.
Seems they restocked it, after a week or two.
Wasn't available at few times I was checking lately.

Yes, good question! I can't justify almost €2,000 for a system and the Tabor looks much more affordable - if it comes out! And I am starting to get sceptical.
In the end I bought a Vampire and that is very nice running OS3, but it would be nice to have an OS4 system too!

I too have brought a Vampire SA a great little system that will turn into the best 68k experience you can get with time. My Checkmate case is now in need of a OS4 system as my A1200 aca1233 is not really being used. _________________ A1200 ACA1232 128MB Indivison MkIICr A1200 Power Tower mediator Voodoo3 RPi3 Emulating C64 ZX Atari PS BBC Wii with Amiga emulation |
