China didn't want to produce it so ACube now have the honour. ACube seem to have had issues producing a new batch of Sam460CRs never mind a new motherboard design!

(Edit: 460CR not 440CR)

@geen_naam

And yet in AmigaWorld it’s ALWAYS been “WHEN IT’S DONE!” It’s just now it seems like the components are turning EOL before Amiga products are launched!

@geen_naam

The Raspberry Pi Foundation seem to have no problem knocking out new hardware in the middle of a pandemic.

That Pi400 is a brilliant piece of kit and made in the UK too.

@Yssing

Yes. Are you referring to Sam460cr components not delivered from Asia, or the manufacturing of the Sam460cr boards?

@Doofus

A good piece of news in regard to Tabor maybe is that AmigaKit dropped X5000 availability, lately:

https://amigakit.amiga.store/product_info.php?products_id=1303

Maybe they’re on about something soon!

OK point.

Seems they restocked it, after a week or two.

Wasn't available at few times I was checking lately.

@Doofus

Yes, good question! I can't justify almost €2,000 for a system and the Tabor looks much more affordable - if it comes out! And I am starting to get sceptical.

In the end I bought a Vampire and that is very nice running OS3, but it would be nice to have an OS4 system too!

@Hitman

I too have brought a Vampire SA a great little system that will turn into the best 68k experience you can get with time. My Checkmate case is now in need of a OS4 system as my A1200 aca1233 is not really being used.

Hang about..... A1222 still hasn’t been released??

How many years has it been now since it was announced? Have people paid for deposits/preorders?!

@trixster: There was a release for beta testers years ago, but as driver-development (and porting AmigaOS4) took much longer than expected there was a re-design of the board necessary (some parts aren't available in the meantime), which is the show-stopper at the moment. So, yes, pretty unsatisfying, even for Trevor.

An no, they took no money for Tabor, although there was a special pre-order-offer last year, where you bought a software-bundle. In exchange the buyers of the software-bundle have the chance to buy a board from the very first batch (about 100 boards) for a special price (around EUR 400,-).

I am on the pre-order-list and still waiting, but it's ok, I am not in a hurry.

Yeah no hurry! At this rate even the batch 1 boards won't reach customers before September 9 2021 when the last orders for the P1022 CPU must be placed with NXP! A-EON are running out of time to truly gauge customer demand before they again lose the ability to secure the components! No rush ACube/A-EON and yet... time waits for no man!

@Thread

... and the P5040 CPU is on that 'end of life' list too and that variant of the X5000 hasn't been released either!
