@eliyahu

My questions ... Does sound work? Does network work?

I would like to see a demo of A1222 showing video, playing music and surfing the net with IBrowse or Netsurf or Odyssey. I don"t expect all these simultaneously, but I'd like to see it doing something useful. Last time I saw A1222 Tabor, it was just showing an OS4 Workbench screen. I missed the demo if there was one.

I would like to see if it can perform at least as well as my MicroA1. MicroA1 main limitations are 32 MB video RAM and 256 MB system RAM.

@eliyahu

Good question!

I'm interested in seeing the A1222 running the following:

- The Battle for Wesnoth

- E-UAE - Emulation of AGA games, but also OCS/ECS titles.

- Hollywood Designer (or regular Hollywood) to test the included examples of effects, presentations and games.

- General web browsing with Odyssey, speed compared to Sam460

Would be cool to run a few benchmarks too, so that we could see how it compares to the other AmigaOS 4.x alternatives out there.

@redfox

Network has been available for a few years now and Trevor demonstrated the audio working in his video message for Amiwest last year.

There isn't much in the way of videos demonstrating the A1222 at the moment because beta testers are under NDA but obviously exceptions have been made.

This video from EntwickerX is over four years old now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPdr7MaGvLo

There's also some A1222/Tabor specific videos on Dan's channel

https://www.youtube.com/c/Daytona675x/videos

The P1022 in the A1222 is clocked at 1.2Ghz versus the G3 in the Micro being clocked at 800Mhz. The G3 has a larger L2 cache 512KB if it's an FX and 1MB if it's a GX versus the P1022's 256KB. The G3 has a full FPU so may have the edge in FPU intensive code depending on how well the FPU trapping works in the A1222.
I don't know how the e500 V2 compares to G3 clock for clock in integer performance but if it comparable the extra 400Mhz will give the A1222 a large advantage. The e500 v2 has an SPE unit which can give a significanrt performance boost if code is SPE aware. Daniel Müßener has made SPE aware versions of most of his games and ports including Tower 57 and as yet unreleased Wings Remastered while some developers have stated they won't be writing SPE aware versions of their code.

A1222 can take upto 8GB of DDR3 memory although the OS4 is pretty much limited to 2GB. A Radeon RX video card will typically have a minimum of 2GB of memory. The drivers with Enhancer 2.0 support hardware decoding of 4K video if using an RX card, something the Micro can only dream of.

Perhaps that is what Eliyahu is getting at.

imo though, the inclusion of "if" limits potential response to what might be a genuine request for feedback.

If there was news about the A1222 at AmiWest and it was being shown, what would you want to see in a demo? What information would you want to know?

There's a mouse in there at least, don't know if it's the famous one.

Famous cuz the previous model (2020) wouldn’t work.

@DiskDoctor

Because of delays the mouse needed all new components as the original ones had become obsolete and hence A-EON negotiated the sale of the PCB schematic design from the Chinese manufacturer in order to remanufacture the mouse with the new components! They will still sell you the shell of the original mouse with the updated PCB kit for you to install in the AAA shoe box mouse! "Only Amiga"

@tommysammy

You're right. Read the magazine yesterday and not much new information.

Ah, I haven't tested mine yet so I can't say for sure. I hope it's the famous one though. I have enough working mice, but no celebrities.
