European Union does in fact have software patents, though they call it something else.

This statement is entirely untrue, since:

software patents != computer-implemented invention

Computer-implemented invention requires hardware to work (other that a PC), a software patent does not.

I'm willing to be convinced otherwise. What part of the Konami patent requires hardware to work, as opposed to a software patent?

I don't know this patent you mention.

The thing is, software works as standalone. Computer-implemented invention for a change, requires embedded hardware to work ("the system").

Both could be read in respective legal acts. Also, that, in EU, "patents for software algorithms cannot be granted".

Please check the respective acts if you need to be sure. I've done it already, many times.

@A1200

You just met one then. BluRay is so much better quality than streamig, it's almost not compareable.
So, I do, using my PC, in my lounge, where i also play games.
Cyberlink software does it all.

@DiskDoctor

From a playback point of view , unprotected Blue-Ray content can be played back on a Sam460ex/cr machine with a Radeon Rx card and the accelerated video driver in the A-Eon Enhancer 2.0 package .

So if you can get unprotected content on a medium that the Sam460ex/cr can read then you can play it back with the above configuration .
